I can't get the search function to work, so sorry if this is out there somewhere...

I want to take a second job, paying taxes and everything. What is the legal way to do this on an E-2 visa? My boss says it's not possible, but I remember reading here that there is just a form to fill out or something, and take a trip to immigration?

Can someone help me out here?

Thanks! ^^

K.T.

It is possible as I am doing it at the moment. You need to get a permission letter from your current employer with copies of your contract, business license and a copy of the contract with your new place of employment and business license. Then go to your nearest immigration office and fill in the addition/alteration of employment form and pay 60,000 won (or it might 30,000 won, can't be sure).

It can be done and it's vry easy if you get all the paper work done.

Good luck

Of course, your boss saying it's not possible may simply be his/her way of saying she won't give you permission to do such a thing, which while not making it IMPOSSIBLE, it certainly affects the legality of such endeavors.

Your boss may also consider it "overtime," most do. That means that whatever your contract says about overtime is what she/he would expect you to get, and they would keep any additional money you make from your "overtime" job.
