Here's one of them. There are others:
http://www.geocities.com/hagwonblacklist/list.html
I very nearly got a job with a notorious school.
I tried to fax a contract back to them, but for some reason it didn't go through.
I smiled at the clerk at the store and said, "I'll try again tomorrow."
That night, I got curious and Google searched the name of the school.
I found some shocking stories.
Then I was glad the fax DIDN'T go through! |

Just say "NO" to Korea. If I could go back in time, I would never have come here. It costs a lot of money to set yourself up again, and you find yourself only marginally better than what you started up with a year earlier. Totally not worth it. So you sign another contract so you can save up more money, but you waste some of it to cure your boredom here.
If people say no to Korea and pay goes up to maybe 3 or better yet 4 grand a month, then it might be worth it. People might say I'm overly negative, but let's face it, the vast majority are here for money, and for 2,000 or 2,400 a month and a box for an appartment its hardly worth it.
You'll probably ignore me and come anyway, but give it a second thought, you're going to travel 10,000 miles from home, and will probably have few worthwhile experiences to show for it, unless you get a hardon for swilling down cheap booze everyday.
I do enjoy learning the language for some masochistic reason, and there are some nice students, but the bratty or apathetic ones outweigh the good ones imhop. If you know anything before you come here, throw out your stereotypes of Asian students back home, they don't apply, at least not for what you'll be doing. |

I'm going on "home leave" next week.
I will be buying two pair of size 11 Reebok's, a couple dozen bars of fragrance free Dove moisturizing soap (bad skin), a large bottle of Wal-mart brand dandruff shampoo (again the skin), some good Gillette razor blades, some Colgate Toothpaste, socks, Vaseline intensive care extra moisture or moisture lock lotion 2 extra large (Maybe CVS knock off brand), a Digital Camera (Finepis F50, or Lumis TZ3).
I'll be renewing my Prescriptions with the local VA clinic,
While home I will be baking a lasagna, eating local pizza with no corn on it, grilling a thick juicy steak, gaining five unneeded pounds, watching the Patriots win, drinking natty lights (I hate natty light but it's better than Hite and I don't want to get too spoiled). |

Once you're hired and settled...
in day to day routines, unless you're a guest at a Korean household, don't ask a Korean permission for anything...and get your elbows up at the subway if you're in Seoul.
Right now I'm listening to Elvis Costello PUMP IT UP |

I would have gone to Japan or Taiwan. |
