Found while rummaging through my college's otherwise-unassailable Job Postings website. I can't say that my alma mater, Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, screens its postings all that well.

Pretty typical spiel for a recruitment ad, I know, but I can't help thinking of those few grads who will run right into this thing high on hope and with that ' friendly, outgoing and adventurous personality' without checking anything out. After all, Waverly, Iowa population is 8,000 at best during the college year, half or more of that being students. Some do come away from it starry-eyed and searching for adventure.
I wonder how much recruiters get charged to advertise on college boards like this, anyway, and do they realize any benefits long-term?
PS Even though Wartburg tries to remain diverse, still, Waverly is small town white America, so I suppose I can see some method to the madness here. Nothing is said, though, about racial preference, and there is an attempt at Wartburg to recruit students from all walks of life, so they may get all kinds of responses to such an ad. |
