A Korean wanted me to give him a business card last weekend. However, I don't actually have one these days. I used to have them in 2003 when my academy at that time gave me some.

In my wallet, I've got plenty of business cards that I've accumulated from various Mr Kim's, Lee's, Jo's etc.

All of this has me wondering whether it is the norm or slightly unusual for foreigners in Korea to have a business card. It would probably also be interesting to know what type of visa you have and whether you just teach in a school, academy or uni or whether you do other things (own business etc.)

Please vote and explain...

I do. I ordered them myself. They're beautiful and Koreans LOVE getting and exchanging business cards.

I am a teacher. Hogwon, public school, whatever. I taught in the US, where most teachers I knew didn't have business cards. I will certainly get them done in America when I return.

I work at a chaebol, so yes, I have a business card. However, I rarely carry my wallet, so I never give them out...... I think passing out cards is a formality. If ppl really want to contact u in the future, they enter your name and # in their cell.
