|
|
So I've been checking out another site for part-time work. I noticed that like more than 1/2 the non-Kyopo gigs say female only.
Is that because those businessmen who want 1 on 1s are pervs and think they might somehow score with said female? (Or something along those lines...)
Or is it because males have been stigmatized as drug smoking, booze drinking poon hounds or pedophiles and said corporate type wants nothing to do with said male?
I am just curious what the deal is. We all know that there are way more foreign males here than females...especially those with F2s who can legally do the privates. Why so much demand for females?
I have taught businessmen and government types before privately and never had any complaints. I am curious when the whole "female only" thing became so popular? |

Who would you rather wake up and study Hangul with tomorrow morning? A Korean man, or a Korean woman?
It goes both ways. |

As a recruiter friend told me -- they can ask, but they won't find.
I'm sorry son... their choices are limited. |

Are they jobs that include teaching young children?
Are they jobs that include shared housing? They may have an opening in a female's apartment right now.
And some, yes, are recently gunshy about male pedophiles. |

often they mistakenly believe a female will be less likely to criticize their E and will defer to their authority. they'd rather not be "challenged" by a male foreigner; as always, it's a "face thing." |

The jobs I really don't get are when I see a group of office workers...I can understand if women wanted other women teaching them...but a group of salarymen?
Do any of you apply to the ones asking for females anyways? |

Women (in their opinion, not mine) are easier to control. Most academy teachers (Koreans) are females. It is not a job for a man...look around and you can see very few Korean men who teach children. |

Do Korean moms want their children to be around smoking drinking ajoshis? Didn't think so
Unlike what one of the posters stated above, I think that both men and women prefer to be taught by women most of the time. that's just from my observations though. |

My school is advertising for a femaile teacher to replace me, also a female. The director is a woman, the K teachers are male and female, and she just likes having a woman to work with the small children.
She believes that women are "warmer" with small children. All of this predated CPN and that's not her concern. Just her opinion... |

Some of the biggest booze drinkers I've met over here have been foreign women. Koreans are probably just worried that foreign men are pedophiles. |

Bellum (Italian-Canadian BTW?) may be correct.
In my case, Mapo Ewha's owner still claims to potential employers six years on that I'm "too hard to control." |

Not exactly the same scenario, but when looking for jobs this past summer a recruiter told me that it would be extremely difficult to find me a position with her normal contacts because they always ask for female teachers. Interestingly enough, within 24 hours I had received an offer from an all-girls middle school and an all-girls high school. You'd think those would be the institutions most likely to avoid male teachers, but employer desperation and/or good credentials can make a difference. |
