My answer exactly.

Stop (a) feeling threatened by this viewpoint, (b) assuming the new girls share your insecurities. Many women do not.

I don't know what my least fave Daves response is. Anything written by a Christian, Right Wing, drunk redneck tends to annoy me. Why on Earth there are so many raving conservatives working in hagwons, Heaven only knows! You are precisely the kinds of folks who should yearn for socialist revolution and overthrow of the system that keeps you not quite at the bottom of the pile but certainly not a million miles from it.

You're missing the point. You hate a response that refelcts a worldview you don't like. How big of you. The options I included do not reflect worldviews. You seem to be most bothered by people who don't agree with you. Great.

It all depends on which section of the forum you're in.

In the CE forum it's got to be "answer the question".

Thanks for reminding me what my least fave response is! The 'respond but don't respond' response! Laughing

"if you don't like it, leave"

Who are these losers? You're gonna get far in life if you quit everything you don't like. God forbid someone honour their contract and fight through difficulties.

I was originally going to include that option too.

Oh indeed. The variation of that retort which I particularly dislike is "I hope to God you're not an English teacher! Mad" (only ever said when the insulter knows full well that the insultee is in fact an English teacher).

Following any remotely positive post related to Korea, Koreans, teaching etc:

"Yeah, but they were probably......" followed by lazy conjecture about inner motives of strangers that conveniently confirm the posters inner biases.

Example:

Quote:
Today the street food guy outside my school gave me free chicken on a stick.

Quote:
Yeah, but it was probably two days old, and he just wanted to get rid of it. Street food in this country is disgusting. He probably dropped on the ground and decided to give it away to a whitey as a joke. Disgusting.

Yes indeed. People should stay in a country they detest and keep on signing contracts year after year. How dare people suggest that maybe they'd be happier elsewhere? I mean...HOW DARE THEY?

If you're on an E-2 visa, I have bad news for you.

There is no money to be made doing privates.

Privates are illegal.

there's an exception to the rule though. when someone attacks someone's spelling or grammar, and in the process makes a spelling or grammatical error themselves, and a third party jumps on them for that, then it's pure gold.
