My recruiter says that I need the following documents to transfer to a public school

1. Employment Transfer Request Form (attached)
2. (passport-original)
3. (alien card -original)
4. (sealed transcript)--please refer to the attached acceptable formats
5. (release letter)--attached
6. (criminal record check from IR--not the nation wide, but the city wide) - Please note that apostille stamp is NOT required for you.
7. (health check from a clinic in your area,Incheon)--you will be tested on HIV, contagious diseases, and illegal drug abuse.
You will get an orientation from 25th of Feb and you will get a settlement allowance in early March. |
Yet immigration says that I only need the following to change jobs

What gives? |

I've been looking into this myself.
From what I can tell, if your visa has not expired, then what immigration told the OP is correct.
However, if your visa is about to expire and you need a new one, then you need the criminal check thingy (by March 15) and medical check to get the new visa.
I'm about to change with 6 months left on my visa (due to my school closing the program I teach), and I think I can do this at immigration for 60,000 and the things that they said the OP needs. No criminal check or medical unitil I need a new visa in 6 months time.
Don't take this as gospel. It's what I can figure out so far. I'll actually be trying it next week, I think. If so, I'll post what happens. |

Okay, so how do I go about getting the documents that I need from the Chungcheongnamdo Education District? My recruiter told me to phone the governor of the district but when I phoned him he didn't know anything about my recruiters company or even E2 visas for that matter. |

I can't comment on the Education District as I only have experience of private institutes.
This might be BS, but that's a government organisation of some kind, right? Surely immigration would be able to confirm that you are indeed going to work at a public school.
I really don't know about the public school system.
My main point was that, if you still time on your visa, you can change jobs without the CRC or medical. Your exact administrative details I have no idea about. |

from what I'm hearing, you can have your visa transferred from one employer to another, and if done before March 15th, then you won't need the CRC and health check.
My uni just hired 3 new people. Two are married, so they have F visas. the third has an E-2 from his last job. My uni is looking to have his visa transferred at the moment. Looking like that's a possible solution, which of course only saves you the headache now. Come Feb. 2009, assuming these rules are still in play, you'll need to have the new docs. |

Thats okay; a year is more than enough time to get documents organized. |

| Yes, I am transferring to another Uni and was assuredf I did not need a CRC or Medical. I have 6 months left on my current visa, but was told I would get a year and on my next one as that is the contract time at the new Uni |
