I'll be in Boracay on Wednesday for 6 nights but haven't made a hotel reservation yet. Janet, from Daves Straw Hat Inn, took the luxury of holding a room for me at two different places since Daves is fully booked.

www.orchidsboracay.com - I can stay 6 nights for 260,000W or
www.marzon.com.ph - 6 nights for 420,000W.

I don't need anything fancy since I'll be traveling by myself, but I would like a place with A/C. If I don't go for one of these places, should it be a problem to get off the boat and find a place relatively easily that's not too expensive?

Not hard at all. Although, you will be there during the big festival in nearby Kalibo (I think) so it will be a little busier. Should be no problem at all though. Also, those prices seemed steep. I've stayed at Orchids before and it was way less expensive. Again, could be the time of the year as to why it's more expensive, but I would say wait until you get there and feel out the kind of place you want. Cheers

I would get a room off the boat for one night. Then look around the next day and talk to people and see if you can strike a deal for many nights at something you will like.

Try DeParis Rest. Hotel. The owner Roger's a really nice guy. PM me if you want more info.

Don't forget to take your shoes and socks off and roll up your pants before getting out of the boat. I really envy you.

Have fun!

i've heard orchids is good and if, as im guessing, that includes AC, i think you got an Ok deal. i was there during the xmas/new year holiday and got a room for two for about $23/night, but it had no AC or even hot water.

There are no piers on Boracay. You walk off the boat and onto the beach. If you are lucky you won't get your feet too wet when you step off the boat.

Pack light because you will have to carry your bag (or pay a porter to do it for you).

The island is only 7km long x 1km wide so you are never far from the beach.

Orchids is just off the main beach (1 or 2 minute walk) and is in the vicinity of boat station 3.

You mean at Cagban? I had to climb a VERY narrow plank onto a pier...then take a trike to get to white beach.

But i think customx is talking about the 3 boat stations...dont quite remember which one orchids is near, but my favorite part of the beach by far was at the end past boat station #3. definitely the quietest and cleanest..though i saw some boaters getting tickets for landing on the beach there rather than going to the boat station (korean customers at that, hahaha)
