As the other posters pointed out, the key is attractiveness. If the woman is not too much older, I would be willing to date her.
In Korea, I do have to say that a lot of the women, when they get older, still keep their physical attractiveness. And so when the Korean women get past their 20s, its hard to really tell what their actual age is just by looking. In general, Korean women don't look old until they really get there. |

Well, it's only the age thing I was disputing. The case above is wrong regardless of the parties' age. Lying, cheating is wrong but 2 adults consenting to sexual relations per se is not. Natalia thinks heterosexual relationships involving old men and young women are sickening. Feeling sickened by consensual intercourse is irrational and indecent. |
There's a lot sickening and pathetic about people who can only succeed in a "relationship" in which the partner is culturally uprooted and financially dependent.
I see nothing wrong with older women dating younger men, as long as he doesn't suck in bed. |

When I was 22, I dated a thai woman a few times who was 43, she looked VERY good for her age.
And these days when I am on campus wearing my cargo pants, t-shirt and baseball cap, I can mix right in with the junior/ senior undergrads......and I'm 31.......no one knows that until I tell them and that is when I get that surprised look
Personally, I prefer the maturity and passion a mature woman posseses more than the vitality and youth of a young girl because age is nothing but a number really and the young girl will be in the same shoes as the older woman in time anyway.......
Also as another poster mentioned, young girls tend to be very changable in their thinking and really have very little clue as to what to do with themselves while the mature woman has a goal and works toward achieving it.......
Is that to say all older women are calm, mature and level-headed.....by all means no, but the general judgement is that older women tend to bring more calm to the relationship.......at least IMO |

| From what I've heard, Korean men dating older girls seems to be a rising trend. A few years ago, I worked with a 26 year old K-guy and his girlfriend was 31. I knew one k-girl who was 32 and her guy was 26. Last year, I worked with a k-girl who was 28 and she picked up a 23 year old dude in a club. And yet another coworker who was 28 and had a 22 year old guy after her. I usually date younger guys myself. I've only had one boyfriend the same age, and a couple who were older. The rest have been younger. What's the big deal? My friend's Mom's husband is 7 years younger than her. My grandma was 1 year older than my grandpa. My cousin married a giel who was like in her 40s when he was still in his late 20s. My aunt and uncle said he had a girl his age calling him at their house and he wouldn't speak with her. That older girlfriend of his had 2 kids from a previous marriage. Kids involved would be a deal breaker for me, not age. I could never be involved with a guy who had kids. There will always be some woman coming around to visit her kids. |

| in general I prefer older guys. But my general rule of thumb is no one older than my dad and no one younger than my baby brother (he's ten years younger than me) |

My older girlfriends are all attractive. |
Yeah, but what is older for you is half my age. Let's use a little perspective; 27 is not "old".

I've always dated older women, and my wife is 5 years older than me. I'm a rarity.
Most western guys come over here, pick up the Korean chickie and she's generally younger. To each their own.
I don't believe that Korean women age nearly as gracefully as western women--they keep their bodies in better shape, but their faces give them away every single time. |

From a legal perspective, so-called consensual sex with an underage person is by definition not consensual because the young party is legally incapable of consent. Its complicated further by differing ages of consent in different countries. In the UK its 16 and in Korea I think its 14 (birth age) yet Id be surprised if many agreed consent is that central at all given this fact. Although personally I would never dream of sleeping with a teenager, in natural law, the law of evolution via natural selection (which is objective), females may have intercourse with any male so long as she genuinely seeks to. 90 year old men can father children and girls of 13 can become pregnant.
This is controversial of course and I expect angry responses, but, if a 14 year old seeks sex with an elder and both parties derive pleasure from doing so and nobody suffers any harm as a result, its very difficult to make a case that this act is morally wrong. I certainly do not encourage this, but if two people genuinely seek to do it, its physically (and arguably morally) impossible to prevent them. |

Just last night I had a discussion with a friend about this same topic. He referred me to this website:
Worldwide Ages of Consent:
http://www.avert.org/aofconsent.htm
Apparently in his small town, teenagers are expected to abide by the age of consent - two minors can't do the deed. Whereas here in the States, it's expected that teens are shagging each other and it's only an issue when one is a minor and the other is an adult. |

| Women: Would you ever date a man who is several years younger than you? And if you had, what was your experience? |
My last serious relationship was with a man 1 year (exactly 9 months) younger than me. Even with just one year, I was aware of it in the beginning but once I got to know him, it wasn't an issue at all. Honestly, I'm more comfortable with dating a man older than me. But maturity takes precedence and age in no way equals maturity! As for dating a man many years younger: at my age it really doesn't make sense. It usually means they're still in college and I'll feel like a pedo! When I'm a bit older I will be much more open to dating a younger man. Sure why not! Demi Moore can do it, right?
Now - I'd feel uncomfortable dating a man more than 3 years younger than me. Unless of course, our compatibility outweighs it all. But it's a personal thing for me. Any woman out there dating a legal young thing, I say you go girl!
As for you men, I've heard an equation from my Swedish friend's friend. It goes like this: 1/2 your age + 7 = the ideal gf age |

It wasn't too long ago in this country that men in their late teens would marry an older woman in her 20s, then also marry a woman younger than they were.
This was historically the Korean way for many years (although I think mostly for the richer folk, although I could be wrong in that assumption). |

Not always. Minors can also be charged with statutory rape, usually only the male even if both arew underage. Depends on the state. |

I don't know about Korea, but it was certainly the custom in China for young boys to be married off to older girls. The older wife was then expected to take care of him. |

What province(s) was this?
I've dated a woman ten years older than me, and I'm 26 now.
She was in a position of power and had money. A few of my friends and my parents mocked me for being a 'kept' man. It was a cross-cultural relationship.
I got to roll with a different crowd, and I hung out with her friends. It was great! I feel comfortable with individuals who are older than me, and the experience has left me more confident.
I don't know if I could date a much younger girl, though. I find the maturity level of girls my age a bit frustrating generally. |
