or more appropriately, the leisurely taxi ride tot he airport int e middle of the afternoon. at any rate, i will admit to doing the midnight run 18 months ago.
in the third month of my employ at my school while in korea, i came down with a mysterious eye infection. a korean doctor treated me and sent me on my way, but due to the language barrier, he couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong with me. coincidentally, i had to go home for one week to see my ill mother. at any rate, my eye became much worse when i arrived home and i was hospitalized for three weeks. i let me school know via email what had happened and told them i'd be back when i was released from hospital. turns out that after careful review of my medical records the doctors diagnosed me with an auto immune disease (diabetes, crohns and MS are part of this family of illnesses) which i will now have for the rest of my life. i can still function normally, but do have minor limitations now.
upon returning to work, i was treated shabbily by my director and some of my former colleagues, who seemingly made the presumption that i was on an extended holiday. after being grilled why i was away so long without so much as a word about how i was doing, i quickly made up my mind that i would not work for this organization much longer. i chose a time to leave and i did so. the whole thing could have been handled better by both sides..... but that's all water under the bridge now.
i've been teaching happily in taiwan and travelled a lot since leaving korea. i would like to return to korea but on my second passport, issued by another native english speaking country. i'm quite happy to stay in taiwan, the teaching is much the same as in korea, but i miss the korean weather and the food.
what are the chances of the korean immigration databank connecting two people with the same name from two different countries. any opinions? |

Hey, that was me that coined that alternative wording for "midnight run" hahah...wow has it been 18 months?
I think you won't have any problem. Coming back into the country is not a problem after a midnight run anway. I came back the next day 3 times. Since it's been a whopping 18 months, you won't have any trouble at allin getting a visa. |
