I never hang out in Apgujeong, but I'm meeting a friend there this week.

Is there a brewery or a unique bar in the area? No clubs, please. Directions are appreciated.

Monkey Beach is a pretty cool place. I live in Apgujeong, but rarely do the bar scene here or anywhere. I have a gf so what is the need Laughing ? Anyway, it is in the Rodeo area close to the Galleria Dept store. It has a good atmosphere and the drink prices are relatively inexpensive, given the area.

Funny this thread should surface now.

I was at Monkey beach just last night. I'm not a Seoulite, and the place was recommended by a friend.

I am afraid I can't recommend other places in that neighborhood.

While the drinks are cheap at Monkey beach, the music is played at night club level, maybe it was a Saturday night thing, but none of us had fun.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

yeah monkey beach is definitely too loud. i've been to apgujeong to drink maybe a half dozen times and i've never found a good place that wasn't off-the-wall expensive.

I'll keep hoping for a better bar, Monkey Beach doesn't sound like the place to have a conversation. Maybe there's a nice Family Mart in the area.

zanegirls is alright. it's in the basement of the miso building. decent beer served by divine hostesses.

not a hostess bar, but if your friend is male, there's some serious eye candy.

miso building is straight up the street from hooters, i think exit 4 (west side of nonhyun-ro).

just keep walking until you see the second starbucks, and it's in that building.

There's a Platinum brewery in Apgujeong. Go to Hakdong saguri, then head towards Popeyes and turn right. Platinum is about a two minute walk on your left. It's a little pricier than Cass but the beers are worth it.

I met my friend at Monkey Beach in Apgujeong tonight and will have to say its a unique bar with Thai decorations and great drink prices. The self-serve style could become annoying pretty quickly on a busy night. The music was a Caribbean-funk mix for 30 minutes, then fell off into shitty American rap (think "Souljah Boy") as the night went on.

But with 50% drinks from 7:30-8pm, we filled up on Jose Cuervo and import beers. Regular shots: 2,000-3,000. Beers: 3,000-6,000. At 50%, we'll go back for that happy hour.

Apgujeong is a hole. Sorry, not a constructive post, but I can't help it, the whole area makes me sick.

To answer Princess and Reactionary, yes, you walk over to the bar. I'd go back for the 5,000 and 6,000 import beers (Corona, XXXX, Hoegarden, etc.) and the 3,000 shots. Go between 7:30-8pm and all drinks are 50% those prices.
