It is done that way to enable them to defraud the school district and tax office and protect them from prosecution (it's YOUR bank account).
When the crap hits the fan, it is your name on the unpaid tax bill. |

Yep, the bank deal is fraud. The contract between you and the school is legal, but private companies are not allowed to be involved with the hiring of teachers for public after-school programs. So, the bank fraud allows them to hide their presence and exposes you to tax liabilities. Immigration knows about this but doesn't care. How it works: companies vie to hire for the schools. They get about 5 million for you, so they deduct your 2.1-2.3 plus housing allowance and keep the rest. They use some of these proceeds to grease the principal and/or vice for getting the work (being able to hire you for the school). VERMIN |

Avoid prosecution from what? I'm an E-2 visa holder, my contract with the school says I'm an employee, Immigration says I'm an employee, but the schoold doesn't file taxes because they say I'm an 'Independent Contractor.' That is pretty clear evidence of non-compliance to Immigration/Tax laws. Just how can they avoid prosecution? The contract is with the school, they signed it and paid me. I won't even discuss Labor laws. |

You need to distinguish between the contracting school and the private company that is acting as your agent. ttompatz is talking about the private company protecting themselves from prosecution, not the school. the contract with the school is legal, they deduct taxes off ur pay slip etc--the IC is another matter....other threads on this......the private company cannot legally hire teachers on behalf of public schools.....so they hide behind teachers bank accounts.....this is the 'protecting themselves from prosecution'. |
