Who would come here for sex - or any kind of - tourism at all?
Well, The Japanese come here for shopping tourism, but that's about it.
Sex tourism I presume is cheaper and more prevalent in SE Asia, where it also happens to be great weather all year round, with gorgeous landscapes and laid back people. |

I loved coming to Seoul as a tourist back in 2000-2001. Gave it a pass in 2002 as the whole anti-american thing was in full swing. |

yeah the korean government probably said let me prove to you that its not a sex tourist destination.. took the guy out to 588 and he was refused sex...
"SEE NO FOREIGNERS ALLOWED"!! the 2 million girls working in the sex industry in korea.. are only for KOREA MEN!! OK OK??? "

How have they acquired their knowledge of sex tourism in Korea and other nations?
What are their favored destinations for sex tourism now?
What factors make those destinations favored?

Most of the "shock" is generated by feminist groups whose leaders/mouhtpieces would go broke if they tried to ply the trade themselves. They constantly allude to all the women who are "victims" of forced slavery and such but those are just talking points much like the fallacy that women are paid less in the west for doing the same job as a man.
Slavery in prostitution accounts for only a small percentage of the actual industry. Of course what recourse would feminist groups have if they portrayed the common working prostitute as a girl from a rural community who chose short lived financial opportunities over a meager though sustainable career back home? As this is often the case. One who is in the know meets few ladies who are forced into the trade. Often they cite statistics that show 90% of the women who work as prostitutes want out of the profession. Yeah and so do 90% of all fry cooks, janitors, and common laborers, etc... |

According to the Korean Institute of Criminology, South Korea's sex trade was valued at $20.4 billion, making up 4.1% of the gross domestic product�larger than the utility industries. Prostitution is illegal in South Korea. However, the sex industry is ubiquitous, from the smallest of country towns to the large red light districts in Seoul, sex is for sale.

As luck would have it, I just happened to be reading Swiss James' blog, ISpyShanghai.
I must visit China someday, so that their friendly security guards can tell me whether or not I'm a prostitute, because sometimes I'm not sure. |

Ah is that why my laptop and digital camera were searched when I flew Korea to Detroit? Single male 30ish coming from an asian nation designated as a sex tourist destination?
Wonder if I'll have the same probs in March? |
