What area should I study in from a monetary perspective? I'm looking to get back into education and I'm exploring my options.

I could probably only do a masters in humanities, anything else would be a degree.

Also any insight into what jobs pay well, but are not well known, would be appreciated.

I'll probably just end up getting my MA in history but no harm in asking.

Mechanical engineering, MBA from a good school, chemical engineering, electrical/communications engineering, computer science, accounting, finance. People get rich in all fields though. Including philosophy (I know someone who makes over a million per year in philosophy).

From a monetary perspective, you should informally study a sector of the economy you have interest in, learn a little accounting, and start some type of business or investment into that sector. Much easier to become rich by starting your own business and it requires no formal education.

No, my bad Embarassed Wasn't thinking. Agree with above post. Don't suppose you're interested in Law, you can have quite a diverse and well paid career depending on which area you go into.

Geology - relates to worldwide mining and drilling, also well paid.

If you can do the math, I suggest Engeneering also. I'm in the electrical studies now and plan to make a million just a few years after I finish Laughing

If your not so good in math, then Law or Business can do nicely.

If you really suck at math, then go into psyhocology(sp?) psycho-logy?

Anyways, get touchy feely while charging an arm and a leg to hear about peoples most intimate problems....

Yeah engineering or computer science for sure. Although you have to figure Russia, China, and India are going to have some major pressures on salaries in the coming decades.

Accounting (CA/CPA) and law of course are rather proof against external factors.

For computer science to pay you have to have a masters or higher. There are exceptions of course, but not to someone fishing around on an efl board. The exceptions are people like Wozniak and Sawn Fanning. These days they crank out CS graduates by the millions in India.

Yea I'm unlikely to go into computer science. As I said, I'll probably do history as it is the only thing I'm interested in. Thought I would ask anyway.

If you're a problem solver, then engineering + a TMBA Technology MBA would be a good ticket to hold. There are a few 2 year programs out there too, U of Illinois has one.
Battelle, a company HQ'd in Columbus, Ohio has a two year 19 month program with Korea university for a tech mba.

Most of the program is in Korea and online, but you have to travel to Columbus for the last semester at Ohio State. About that Ohio State - Korea univ program, I'm pretty sure its designed for executives of Korean companies, but there's no telling until you try.

^ you could work for the UN, or other world body organizations.

international law is actually pretty much set on precedent, and can be very tricky. history, especially world history would probably be very applicable in this case of law.
