|
|
Hi, I'm going to Tokyo for my first time on Saturday 16th February and coming back Wednesday 20th. So will be staying there for 4 nights.
Saturday will be my biggest day. Heading to Spacelab Yellow to see Maurice Fulton DJ and will be spending on drink which I know is pretty expensive in Tokyo.
The 3 days I just wanna visit cool places and was wondering if people had any suggestions of good places to go?
What is a good budget for 4 days?
Can you use credit card and withdraw cash on a credit card there?
Is it possible to buy Yen travellers cheques in Korea? Easy to change them in Tokyo? |

To save cash, stay in a capsule hotel for 1 or 2 nights (eg the first and last night).
Good value especially if you plan to stay out late. |

Yeah, you're right. It is good value. I a great way to save money. It just means more money you have for drinking.
Depending on the season, you could end up spending Y1,800 - Y3,000 a night on a capsule in Shinjuku. |

Lived in Tokyo for 7 years...was shocked by how much I spent on a return visit recently! But there are plenty of ways to do things on the cheap, inc drink! BLDY is a cheapo family restaurant that offers free wine and make your own cocktails for a one off fee. (Used to be around 6000 won equiv, prob not much more now.) Then there is Gas Panic... happy hour is a bargain, not the classiest place but ok to start the night.
Lots to see in your 3 free days. What u into?
Travellers cheques can only be cashed upstairs in the banks, very limited access to the correct counter, think maybe 10am - 2pm ish. Better off with American Express TC which can be exchanged at most Post Offices.
Dunno about credit cards/cash advances. Damn things were the reason I began my Asian adventures. |

Harajuku park is the best thing to do on a sunday. But the weather will be cr@p I guess. I was there in August and it was fantastic.
Oh, you must go to the Kabuki theatre in Ginza. No, really - you must. The atmosphere is incredible, the building is beautiful and you can see a matinee for around the eqv of 15,000 won. The costumes, the orchestra.... wonderful experience.
Sinjuku and Shibuya are must visit places. Imagine Gangnam, Hongdae, Sinchon on anabolic steroids and crack cocaine cocktails and you're a small way to having an idea what these places are like!
Oh and Rappongi Hills complex is a cool day out, and the cinema there has incrediuble audio.
The food in Japan is just ace too. Try everything once.
By the way - booze isn't any more expensive than in Korea (cass / sh!te / Ob aside) |

OP--How are you getting to Tokyo--by plane or boat / Shinkansen?
Which way to travel is cheaper? I'm also looking at going to Tokyo for a few days in February. |

| From what I gather there is no direct boat to Tokyo so I'm gonna fly, think it's about 450,000 won return last time I looked... |
