|
|
A question for the veterans here. I have been here for 2 months now. I live in Ilsan. Just wondering if anyone can suggest somewhere to get fastfood that is actually healthy. I have lately been eating a lot of fried chicken, pizza, mcdonalds, galbi, etc. Is there anything akin to a Subway around here? I'm not much of a cook and when I do cook it sucks. Subway was my crutch back home and I'm lookin for one here.
Any suggestions or recommendations? |

I can't help you, cause I don't know where to find a Subways in Ilsan... but is it really so hard to make a sandwich yourself? How can you make a sucky sandwich?
Anyway, I suggest taking a cooking course. It'll give you a good new skill that will be useful now and in the future! You shouldn't rely on fast food, even if it's healthier than most. |

Isn't kimpap kinda like Korean healthy fastfood? You should look into the "boon-shiks" around your area. Lots of cheap, quick and fairly healthy meals at a boon-shik... |

Don't forget to get a free dung-chim every time you eat at one of those places...fantastic! |

There's loads of stuff, not technically superhealthy but not bad for you like junk food.
Chicken sticks- dak-gochi
Kimchi mandu
Fish Pasta sticks( cant remember name)- comes with a cup of drain water mmm
Ham/Cheese toasted sandwich- or as koreans call it, toast!
Kimbap- get the mixed(modum kimpab) if the plain one seems too bland.
thats just a few... |

Odaeng. And more like "fish bologna" or "fish hot dogs," I'd say. |

Hands down winner in the healthy fast food stakes would be the ubiquitous 옥수수 (steamed corn) or the delicious roasted 고구마 (sweet potato). No fat, plenty of flavour, very cheap and available at an open-air stall on every corner. |

Subway restaurants are few and far between. I'm lucky to have one w/in walking distance of where I live/work. But the only one I know of in Seoul is in Itaewon (I'm sure there are others, I just don't know about 'em).
Anyway the above recommendations are good, but if you want to eat healthy AND eat western style you're more or less gonna have to rely on making your food yourself. Western food options are already really limited, and among them healthy choices are practically non-existent. |

There's also Isaacs Toast. It's not exactly Subway but it's pretty tasty and you can get a 야체 토스트 (coleslaw and egg toasted sandwich) for W1500. Mind you, it would take 2 of them to fill you up. You can also get sandwiches from most of the the chain-store mini marts like Buy the Way, Family Mart, and OK Mart. |

That's true, the ubiquitous toast stores aren't bad either, and they also have the virtue of being cheap. |

Just outside La Festa in Ilsan there are some great sandwich shops. For actual Subway you'd need to head to Itaewon or Hyehwa or... (etc.- there a bunch downtown). I've seen Quzinos in Itaewon, near City Hall, and Hongdae... and I'm hoping one comes to Hyehwa soon. |
