One wonders how sensitive Korean authorities will be towards "false positive" test results. Not very, I'm guessing.
The site above lists quite a number of innocent potential triggers. Personally, I gave up using Dr Bronner's soap (wonderful product) because its based on hempseed oil. Not sure it could factor in but not chancing it. |

I hate this kind of judgemental horseshit.
I have friends teaching in various countries at various levels (one is a physics professor). Many of them have the occassional smoke and it doesn't affect their ability to do their jobs.
To the OP. In case you're worried, there are a lot of nice chilled-out ESLers in Korea. They're not all spiteful w@nkers.

Cheers, and can I reiterate, to you ESL teachers who may be oh so virtuous but can't read properly, that it's not me that smokes it, it's my boyfriend, and I hate it with such a passion that he had to agree to never smoke it around me or I wouldn't keep going out with him and we've been together for 3 years. |

I know, its the misunderstanding/false positive type scenario's that are a big concern. I bought a box of some fancy hemp cereal at the grocery store the other day, got home, and realized I probably shouldn't eat it given hemp's association with marijuana. Not having reliable information is a tough pill for me to swallow. |

It is really a stupid question when you think about it. Why is she asking a medical question to a bunch of lazy esl teachers?
Ask a doctor! Duh. It's not like your doctor is going to call the police and it's not like the police could do anything if you have it in your system. And it's not like if you get tested that that info goes directly to Korea.
Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. |
Do your think the average doctor really knows??? Duh! |

Supposedly taking cranberry extract and drinking loads of water will flush it out of your system more quickly, but i'd google it a check and few sites to see about how much for how long.
It also depends on the type of test they do... with pee tests it's usually about a month, but there are a lot of variables involved.
Also next time, you might want to phrase the question like this:
"I was recently in Amsterdam, where weed is essentially legal and I broke no laws when the following happened: While looking for the Van Gogh museum I went into what appeared to be a cafe to ask for directions. It turned out that it was actually a 'coffee shop' where people do bad but legal things, and a filthy hippie blew smoke that I believe to have been from a marijuana cigarette into my face, and though I didn't inhale, I'd just like to avoid any cultural misunderstandings in Korea by being sure that it's all out of my system... afterall, I will likely be around (gasp)... children"
This might ward off some of the paranoid anti-drug fascists from ranting on about what the Koreans think of them |

I'd rather have a blunt smoker around children than a raging alcoholic. |

If your friend get caught he'll get a fine. In Korea his face, Job and nationality will be spread throughout the media and netland. All foreigners will pay for it for a few months.
Big difference. |

Umm......I am so surprised no one said "just tell him to stop doing it from now and he might be ok, especially if the both of you want to work in the fall- it gives his system 6 months to flush the crap out"
As for the drug test in Korea, I am not sure that a false positive could be found or what, since alot of their prescription drugs and many over-the-counter medicines are narcotic-based, it would be like testing positive every time a person gets a cold and goes to a doctor to get cold medicine....
I would just say- leave the guy home, come to Korea and work. Or you work in Korea and just have him come on a tourist visa and stay with you.....no harm in that.................. |

Life ain't fair, sweetheart. You're coming to a country with harsh drug laws and a completely revamped Visa issuance process, partially thanks to a slew of boneheads who couldn't get the idea that having a puff here was a bad idea.
You and your boyfriend should deal with it. Tell him to put the bong away for a while, clean his system out, then come. |

Slightly off topic: No don't you dare spark up once in awhile. I don't haven't for years but I find it amusing that you can be a raging alcoholic, show up to school with a hangover that makes you nearly incapacitated and in fact they have a commercial now that shows a guy totally wasted in the back of a police car and insists they stop for some kind drink that is is supposed to ward off hangovers. That is okay. Showing up for work reeeeeeking of soju and you will get sympathy but god forbid you spark up.
Don't be stupid. Don't do drugs here. It's not fair but it is the law. Get clean. Get a clean bill of health and face the fact you are not going to be able to smoke weed on the ROK. Well you can but the last thing you wanted to be deported for is a drug related offence. It can follow you for a long time.

I spoke to him a few weeks ago about this and he assured me then that he had stopped smoking, reckon it'll be another couple of months yet before we have our medicals too so am hopeful everything will be ok. |

TBPE test is a spitum test and xray, the HIV test is a blood test, and the canabinoid test is taken from urine. The whole package should cost about 60,000won if you have Korean Health Insurance. It can be done at any university hospital and most private clinics |
Did you mean a Sputum test?
