OTOH replayed:

Yeah, that was a great line and she delivered it so matter-of-factly. Thanks for sharing. Did you ever play the "Bob" drinking game? Every time a character says "Bob," you have to down a glass of beer--mind you a small glass.
The finale to Newhart was priceless with Suzanne under the bed covers and Bob awakes from an impish dream.
What's missing from so much of TV nowadays is light humor and the well-delivered line. Those actors earn their stripes the hard way and refined them on stage first. How many of today's wannabe stars can claim that?
Jorge,
Leave it to you to dump a clump of fly bait on someone else's fond memories. I see you're not only obtuse but mean-spirited as well. You're a real piece of work, Czar. But then cherishing cynicism is it's own punishment. |

And the blonde is Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith's mother. Hitchcock developed a rather unfortunate fixation on her, which remained unconsummated but put a considerable strain on their working relationship during the filming of Marnie. |

While that certainly was clever, I don't think the second series ever got as good as the first. Or at least, it had a much more pronounced downhill trajectory. The whole Larry Daryl and Daryl thing was the classic example of desperate writers milking a catch-phrase dry. And when Michael and Stephanie got together, and they started with all those "meta" jokes that were about other TV shows. A dark harbinger of postmodern archness to come.
I was born in the late 60s, but the original Newhart always seemed like sort of a last hurrah for the kind of stand-up humor that was considered cutting-edge by my parents generation. And I say that as a compliment. |

But Mosley, I was agreeing with OTOH.
The ending of the second series, with Bob in bed with Suzanne, has got to be the finest ending to a series of all time. |

That voice... 2 packs a day. She looked sexy as hell smokin' those smokes!
She was as pretty as hollywood brunettes ever could get. I'll miss her, too. |

| Stevesie, I'm sorry I upset you. I apologize. I guess I forgot some people think of watching TV and movies as fond memories. |

Czarjorge: I'll just assume you aren't a troll & reply:
The truly great films & TV shows(I hope they aren't too low brow for an obviously sophisticated intellectual like youself) DO provide fond memories, especially when watched with family members/friends-in somewhat the same way that reading certain books, individually,(try it) can be life-changing, rewarding experiences.
Too bad for you that you're "above" all that. Pretentious piece of .... |

Yeah, just some, few hundred million or so. Opium of the masses and all that, eh?

Naw, he's not above the fray just unable to mount a convincing argument on the foreign policy threads so he goes for the soft underbelly like a hyena.
Anyway, how can you take anyone seriously who's got an avatar that looks like the offspring of a gremlin and a clown? But I guess it's some highbrow po-mo I'm not privy to. |
