Is an employee still entitled to their end-of-contract severance if they are under a 10-month contract?

Bold and succinct. Thank you for that.

Now, can you back that up with something a little more... meaty?

Look at article 34 of the labor standards act.

A copy of the LSA is in the sticky's at the top of this forum.

Article 34 (Severance Pay System)

(1) An employer shall establish a severance pay system whereby an average wage of more than 30 days shall be paid for each year of consecutive years employed as a severance pay to a retired worker;
however, if the worker was employed for less than one year, this shall not apply.

...and that's what I was looking for. Funny, the version of the LSA I got from the MOLAB site was dated 1997 and is different from the one above.

Thank, Ttompatz.

you may not be entitled to it by law, but if it's in your contract that you'll get your severance pay, you should get it. Check your contract for what it says.

Funny. I always thought that these kinds of things explained themselves.

Work one year get severance. Not work one year not get severance. Have contract that say give severance at finish date get severance. Like you work 6 months we give severance. You work 10 months we give severance.

No severence because not one year get side deal and put in contract. Not in contract forget.
