| I'm downloading Ep. 4 as I type this from tvtorrents.com... sorry, it's a private site that you need an invite and I have none to spare. The good news is that Ep.4 will probably be up on public trackers (isohunt has the other leaked episodes i think) very soon. I wish I could have held out from watching 5-7 last night.... |

| I was completely floored by Lester helping McNutty out with his serial killer plan. It doesn't really seem to jive with his earlier clash w/ McNulty about Barksdale. Maybe he's just had enough. |
Strangely I found it easier to believe Lester would go along with it than McNulty doing it to begin with. And I'm surprised McNulty actually thought people would care about homeless people being murdered. I thought he was more jaded/less naive than that.
What I found puzzling in this episode was Prop Joe's behaivor towards Marlo when he asked for clean money. Shouldn't that have sent a warning to Joe about what Marlo is trying to do? |
I didn't get the whole "black guys killed v. white guys killed" conversation with McNulty Freamon and Griggs. Although true, it seemed way too heavy handed, and I agree that most of these cops would have already gone through their "wrong zip code" phase after a couple of months on the force. I think somebody on Slate wrote that that conversation pretty much summed up the entire message of the show, and anyone watching would already get that message.
I'm thinking that Prop Joe and the Greek are a few steps ahead of Marlo on this and they're going to get the drop on him. Another thing I don't get is the value put on Marlo's muscle when forming the co-op. If Prop Joe has the product, how can attracting muscle be that difficult? Maybe it's guys that you can trust, but I still think Prop Joe would have the upper hand, regardless of the superior firepower Marlo supposedly has.
Btw the Times article was good stuff. Bunk on the take? Not the worst idea I've heard.
There's so many articles on the show now. I think it's because he started writing about journalism.
Slate's doing their back and forth on it as well.

Anyone who's watched ep 3: go to 46:25. Cutty's walking in the foreground to McNulty's right.
BTW, ep 4 is available at the Pirate Bay. The sound goes out of sync once at the beginning, and again a few minutes in (and the video quality's not the greatest), but it works. |
