| My landlord has somehow blocked my ability to download torrents from his network. How can I get around this? Any suggestions? |

| Have you tried alternative torrent programs, such as Azureus? You might also be able to configure your settings to connect to different ports. |

Which torrent client are you using? utorrent? azureus?
You could try turning on encryption. That'd be the first thing I would try. |

Encryption is on. I've tried bit-comet, utorrent and azureus now. None will work.
I also tried and tested 50 ports or so. All can't be used.
Anything I can do? |

Ask your boss / landlord to open a port (AKA port forwarding) on the router so you can use torrents. |

That'll be it. Your landlord hasn't actively blocked anything. It's just that the router in your building has been configured to block file-sharing programs like torrents. It's to prevent a few people taking all the bandwidth and leaving everyone else with slow internet.
It has happened to me as well. My landlord didn't have a clue what I was talking about and didn't even know what a router was!!
Your only chance is to get an engineer from the ISP and get him to forward the ports on the router that you want to use with uTorrent. |

Get into the router. The addy will probably be http://192.168.1.1 and the default user/pass on most routers is blank (as in nothing) and 'admin'.
If you get in, forward the ports and change the user/pass. |

I do not have access to the router. But thanks all for the pointers.
What other programs can i use to download (not bit-torrent). I want to download who seasons of shows. |

I don't understand what your particular situation is since you never explained what your set up or deal with your landlord is/was.
1.Unless you are broke and unemployed you should have your own connection.
2.Granted your lease/rental agreement stipulated free internet; it didn't mean for tenant to use all the bandwith and make surfing like molasses in the arctic for the rest of the building.
3.And if you are gainfully employed shame on you for not shelling out 20 bucks a month for your own internet! |

1) My lease on my apartment expired 2 months or so ago but my working contract not until last week. I'm renting a room in a house until I go home in 13 days.
2) True. I don't really care.
3) See '1'. I had my own connection for 2 years. |

Anyhow, I got the landlord to make changes. All fixed up. |
