I'm not sure if this would work...but say you brought over a directTV or Dishnetwork satellite dish from the US as well as the receiver. Would it work here? I personally think it would since all you need is a direct line of sight to the Southeast. This is of course assuming you had a subscription to either DirectTV or the Dish Network....Any ideas if this would work. Also, I know that you need a phone line in the US, but I was told the phone line was only used to order Pay per view movies....I am getting tired of Korean cable broadcasting....

Hmm.... I don't know. I know for a fact there are Koreans in East Coast US that get Korean Satellite TV. If the US can get Korean signals, why not the other way around?

Yeah, Earth is curved. The satellites are probably below the horizon when they are sending the US TV signals.

I actually found the answer which was surprising. Apparently, the Dish Network and Direct TV satellites orbit around the earth over the US. So as the earth revolves the satellites revolved as well and thus stat stationary above the US.....Damn....the TV programming in Korea is getting to be too much!~! Arghhh..

Yeah, you're right. I read something about that a while back. They orbit at the same speed as Earth rotates, at a constant altitude, which is why dishes nowadays are bolted down. The specific term for that type of orbit escapes me.

its crazy! korea suppose to be some high tech country.. the cable options here suck! they dont even had TIVO either!!

In Italy at my uncles house he has over 500 channels on his basic cable
even korean tv, arrirang, kbs, mbc , sbs..

and ITaly is way behind when it comes to technology..

why isnt there some cable company which can bounce off all the cable companies in the world and give us every channel in the world or at least the options to choose? crazy really..

No demand, and then they would have to dub it or create sub-titles.. it is prolly not feisable.
