Hi I am working in Cheonan and I wanted to learn some Korean to help me get by. I was looking for night classes during the week or saturday classes. If anyone knows of a place in Cheonan or Asan that I could go to that would be a big help. Also any places in Seoul for Jan-Feb would be great. Thank you everyone! Very Happy

This is for Seoul. It's ok. A lot of teacher talking time goes on and too much grammar but you will learn a lot.

^I *would* do the program in Gangnam, but I'm closer to SNU (only a stop away), so I'm interested in taking it there. But I only seem to hear feedback on Sogang, Ewha, and Yonsei. Has anyone here taken a Korean nigh course from Seoul National?

I have studied in both the SNU and Yonsei night classes.

The teachers at Yonsei all seen to follow a standard teaching style, whereas the teachers at SNU all seem quite different. Yonsei is more vocab/grammar/practice oriented (with some reading). Whereas SNU is more situational communicative oriented. You only have one teacher per semester at Yonsei, but in SNU, I had two different teachers that taught alternatively.

SNUs night classes top out at a lower-intermediate level (level four), or they did when I was attending them (2 years ago).

I took a course there last year and recommend it. The teacher was excellent, classes were engaging, and there were a lot of speaking exercises. If I lived closer I would take it again.

There is another SNU evening course in Gangnam, I think a couple hundred meters from 선릉 station.

If anyone can provide some previous links to discussions on Korean language programs, it would be much appreciated. The search function is useless.

Yonsei seems to be less conversational based, with more emphasis on grammar. What is the general consensus on Sogang and SNU?

It appears that there is general positive feedback on SNU. I have heard positive reviews about Sogang. Anyone else care to comment (especially the beginner level program)?

As mentioned before, Yonsei seems very formulaic and traditional in their approach to learning Korean. The instructors speak little (if any) English even at beginner levels. Not to mention, intensive classes with virtually no practice or review. Downright boring!
