I push power and the power supply and all the fans get working. The keyboard lights flash once. The dvd drive accesses a bit. The mobo light is on and green.

There is no signal to the monitor. I try the keyboard shortcut to shut it down again, thinking maybe xp loaded but there's nothing. The xp startup sound didnt play anyways.

I remove the case. The cpu fan was not fastened securely. It was on it but not locked in over the cpu.

I was thinking of goin to get a new mobo and cpu.

Anyways, any help appreciated.

Why wasn't he fan on properly? Is whatever holds it on broken? I am unfamiliar with AMD heatsink mounts. Did you put it back on? Reseat the graphics card? Check your RAM modules?

As far as I know, the CPU would shutdown before it fries.

Possibly it was disengaged or whatever when the desk was flipped over months ago. It isn't broken, I secured it again today. I put it back on.

After checking what you suggested I found that one of my ram modules was done for. The computer is now working again and I have an excuse for a minor upgrade I guess.

Thanks for the reply.

You're in luck. RAM couldn't be cheaper at the moment. Get 2GB's of quality RAM for 36,000. Or even 4GB's if you want to be future-proof.
