I think that Romney is probably the best qualified to deal with economic issues, nationally and globally.
Unlike Bush, he was actually successful in business ventures.
I also like the fact that politically he does not represent sectarian religious interests.
With McCain, I think the main focus would be fighting potential and actual military threats while cutting domestic spending - except homeland security - to the bare minimum.
While Hillary is exceptionally smart for a woman, I don't think that she's got the right stuff to serve as Commander-in-Chief of U.S. forces (who would probably kill her in friendly fire...)
Obama, while also very bright, can be perceived as being too naive about international threats.''
Overall, I think that Romney would be best suited (with the best suit) to serve as next President.
Right now, I would make McCain my second choice, followed by Obama.
As far as who will win, I think that Clinton still has as good a chance as anyone.
Whichever Republican wins in Florida would have a big edge to get the nomination. Risht now it looks like Romney is in the lead.
I look for either McCain or Romney to be in a tight race against either Clinton or Obama - and it might be too close to call... |

Yes, I strategically voted for Romney with the hope that he strategically wipes up the floor with Hillary or Obama next November. (though I'd be quite happy if he just pulls 270 electoral votes.) |

As a fellow Republican, I would love nothing more than to see this. However, I am putting my faith in John McCain to that very same thing.
That said, I'd definitely vote for Romney over any demoncrat that is looking to steal my money. |

After watching Bill Clinton (on C-SPAN) work a crowd in South Carolina, I don't think the Clinton dynasty can be stopped very easily.
Between the two of them, they're just too smart, savvy, ruthless, and charming when necessary ... |

| Votes are still being counted, but looks like it's between McCain and Romney (with McCain slightly in the lead). |

| Yahoo calls it for McCain. I guess we can bury Huckabee for good. Sorry Fiveeagles. No Christian constitution in the near future. Sorry IGTG. The New World Order wins again. |

| Not so fast, McCain is old, and he could pick Huckabee as his VP - who may have to take over the reigns of power when John passes away. |

Do I? No, I think maybe they might find better use of their last couple years than being ya-IGTG-ta, obsessing about things he doesn't understand, attempting to disrupt any conversation he doesn't understand on a discussion forum.

I disagree - "Ya-ta boy" usually gives his educated opinion and presents insightful commentary from a mature perspective.
Of course, everyone has some faults and pet peeves ...
But conspiracy theorists tend to lack balance, I think, and some threads need to be "derailed" somewhat to get on the right track...
Anyway, you should respect your elders (like him and me - who are about the same age ...) We're in Korea - where Confucianism rules! |

Rteacher, I agree with the Confucianism part ( ), but it is useless to try to be rational with 'some' posters. If a person does not operate rationally, it is not rational to deal rationally with them. They don't communicate that way. It is beyond their ken.
The problem is complicated if the person is operating at about the C+ level. They desperately want you to take them seriously, but it just isn't possible.
So they whine. A good example is regi opening up a poll over on the General Topic Forum asking if Gopher should be banned because he doesn't live and work here in Korea now. peel wants me to go sit in my rocking chair and wait to die. It's the same thing. With Moslems, he wants them to go back to their ancestors' home. It's all of a piece. Any disagreement---get rid of it. |

Every movement in history has faced some time of testing, some experience that either forges it into something strong and unified, or forces it to fade away into the history books as another failed experiment.
Dr. Paul has written to you that we are heading straight for Super Tuesday. Our opponents are free to beat up on each other and wear themselves down while we gather our supporters and prepare to storm the convention with delegates.
Last night, over 60,000 people stood up and asked for an end to the runaway violation of our liberties. But contrary to the impression you may be getting from the mainstream media, no national delegates have yet been won in Florida. Those delegates will only be awarded between February 6 and April 30 at delegate selection caucuses, and many of those delegates will be supporters of Dr. Paul.
Ron Paul is the only candidate not to give up on any state in the Republican race, and just as we competed strongly in overlooked states like Nevada and Louisiana, so too will we compete in Maine, Minnesota, and other states that the so-called "top-tier" candidates are content to ignore.
Now, as the focus shifts to Super Tuesday, Rudy's campaign is crushed, Huckabee is losing momentum by the day, and McCain and Romney are fighting over who is the most liberal.
We've been here before. In 1776, despite a courageous effort at holding onto the city, George Washington ceded New York and quickly retreated to New Jersey.
1777 brought the British recapture of Fort Ticonderoga, as well as American defeats at Brandywine and Germantown.
And then, during the winter of 1777-1778, Washington and his army faced perhaps their most humiliating moment, forced to endure a harsh Pennsylvania winter with limited supplies at Valley Forge.
The American revolutionaries dealt with their defeats, focused on their goals, and emerged from Valley Forge as a force that would defeat the most powerful nation on earth.
Our momentum is building. Each one of us, from Dr. Paul himself down to the grassroots supporter who donates the last $5 he or she can give, is focused on the goal.
Early in the struggle for American independence, George Washington wrote: "Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages." Even then, Washington realized that a fierce struggle for self-government can only be won with a spirit of determination equal to the challenge.
Today, in the midst of our new revolution, let's consider Washington's words once again. The task before us is enormous. The foes of liberty are deeply entrenched, and they will not relinquish their power without a struggle.
But fighting in our favor is the unconquerable human spirit, the innate desire to be free. We must embrace this inner strength, dig in our heels, and persevere, just as Washington and his rag-tag colonials, the first American grassroots patriots, did before us. And if we must pass through a Valley Forge or two along the way to victory, let those times of testing temper the steel of our determination.
If Ron Paul is to continue his fight for liberty to the Republican Convention, we need your help in two critical ways:
1. Become a precinct leader today: It's easy, but more importantly, it's vital to Ron Paul's success: https://voters.ronpaul2008.com.
2. Donate: Just as the Continental Congress supplied General Washington's troops in the field, we too must raise as much money as we can to equip our grassroots supporters.
Help us win this revolution and usher in a new era of freedom, peace, and prosperity. Donate today: https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate.

Wow. Listen to this. Romney blew it. On a live radio broadcast... this is why Romney can never be President and Ron Paul can still win.
As McCain and Romeny piss off the public, and more and more people get angry, and the race is down to 2 for the Dems and 3 for the Republicans (Giuliani will drop out in the next day or two, Huck will be out by Feb 6), Ron Paul will finally get some media coverage and the people will get behind him (up till now, the other candidates have gotten 50 to 200 times as much coverage). |

I understand that you and Ya-Ta Boy have a mutual spat, but Ya-Ta is not a troll. At least not with respect to the rest of us. |
