My bet is on the Coen bros.' "No Country for Old Men," but I haven't seen "Michael Clayton" or "There Will Be Blood." Who do you think will walk away with the Oscar (regardless of those in attendance)?

The Coen's will probably get best director, but I'm thinking Atonement will win best picture. It's one of those big, epic, serious movies the Academy loves, with enough of a hint of post modernism to make it hip.
Michael Clayton had very good performances, but nothing really stood out, and it hasn't received nearly enough buzz to be a contender.

Are any of these movies showing in Korea?

Also are there any theatres in Korea where one can see non commercial blockbusters? And foreign films?

The only one I know of is "No country for old men" which is apparently on cinema release on 21 February 2008 (South Korea)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477348/

I am so there for that one. Not bothering with torrent.

I downloaded all of them Saturday except There Will Be Blood (all the comments said the quality was crap). So far I've only watched Juno, and although I liked it, I don't see it as a Best Picture.

Do any of them have explosions and/or brad pitt or a Korean? No, then the movie never comes to Korea.

Unfortunately, I don't believe this was enough to bring "Rambo" here. Crying or Very sad

I think I am the only person in the world who didnt like "No Country for Old Men". Tried to watch Micheal Clayton last night but was too tired. Atonement was a beautifully filmed movie but quite slow and depressing. Juno was cute but really doesn't have a best picture quality. Waiting for There will be Blood.

Over the last few years I have actually enjoyed the films up for best documentary way more then the ones which have been up for best picture.

I don't think that IMDB Korean release date means much.

I saw a poster for 3:10 to Yuma at a movie theater in Gwangju yesterday- said it was coming 2/21. But that doesn't have a South Korean release date on IMDB.

But WOW do I hope you're right about No Country For Old Men coming to Korea. [/url]

Rite, well I've just finished watching Atonement, and think it'll win. Not seen the others but having Keira "Rake" Knightley and James McAvoy (who isn't that bad considering that I didn't like him in Last King of Scotland either) but it seems to have everything that would win the pointless Oscars.

"Oh darling I love you"
"I know darling"
"Oh why can't we be together?"
"I don't know darling, maybe it's my septicemia"
"Oh dash it and blast it and dash it again"

Just like a modern day "Gone with the Wind"

yeah, there have been better movies this year, but the Dunkirk shot in Atonement was a pretty amazing bit of work, and its miles better than Crash, and a few other winners. For my money, the Diving Bell and the Butterfly got robbed.
