They announced the sequel last week

godzilla does 9/11 writ large.

sequel? what else is there? they did every special effect imaginable. what to they want? baby monsters on rollercoasters?

if multiple bombs and rockets don't stop it, what can? maybe the common cold! that's original. or maybe it can be frozen with fire extingushers.

they only way a sequel would be any fun would be if peter parker got in the act.

I thought the movie was good. It wasn't as disorientating as I thought it would be. I didn't find the camera shaking any more distracting than Paul Greengrass films (Born Supremacy/Ultimatum).

They left a lot of questions unanswered which would leave a lot of room for a sequel.

What happens if you get bitten? You just explode? Hud said the little critters were trying to drag him back somewhere, why? Are there more than 1 monster?

Why would you want to know about the monster before seeing the movie? Do you hate surprises? Hate the movie experience?

I absolutely don't get it.

Do you guys buy a book and skip to the last 3 pages too? Or more likely, skip to the end of the Cliffnotes.

What fell out of the sky was the satellite that woke the monster up. I didn't see it when I saw it in theaters, but I've read about it since then. Also if you stay after the credits (I wouldn't suggest it). You hear a message played backwards. The message is "It's still alive, and so are we." or something like that. The "It's still alive" part is certainly there, but there is a second part that there is a good deal of debate about.

Interestingly, the satellite was owned by the company that Rob was going to go to Japan to work for--Targruato (spell?).

There are a lot of videos available online of other news agencies reporting about similar attacks. Some Italian, German, and Spanish clips about oil rigs getting attacked and evacuated.

With the LOST experience and now Cloverfield's flawless viral marketing campaign, JJ Abrams has shown that he has his finger square on the pulse of what piques public interest.

In response to the time of the movie, my girlfriend had a really good point. We were walking out of the movie and I looked at my phone and it had only been an hour and twenty minutes and I was like "What the hell, I could have watched that for another half hour" and she said, "If it was any longer everyone would have probably gotten sick."

I know a lot of people got sick with Blair Witch, and a lot of people are getting sick with Cloverfield, too, so it was probably a conscious decision on their part to keep it short and keep their audience as un-nauseous as possible.

i think its more of an aesthetic decision. this movie is a jolt to the system, and if you drag it out, the shock effect is diluted.

I noticed Cloverfield doesn't have legs:

It's 9 in box office this week, down from 4. It's been out for only 3 weeks. The movie was made for $30 million so $70 million is nothing to sniff at. But I suspect word of mouth about the shaky camera stuff being hard to tolerate might have scared off audiences.
