I want to bring desktop computer parts (motherboard, CPU, graphics card, hard drives, mouse, RAM, and DVD burner) to Korea in my suitcase, buy the rest once I arrive (case, monitor, power supply, keyboard, whatever) and then put it all together.
Am I going to have any problems? I've been told the parts will all fit together okay. Has anyone here done this? Any advice? |

No problem. I've done this with a normal mini tower and a shuttle PC (without cases). This is the cheapest and easiest way to bring a desktop PC without all the weight.
Just make sure your power supply is suitable for the specs you have. |

I did it too. All went into a carry-on sized suitcase/briefcase and I cut styrofoam to stop it from moving about. This was pre-911....not sure what the search officer will do now...? |

Awesome. I was thinking carry-on, but I have been worried that they might consider it a security risk. At least with a carry-on you can supervise when they dig through your stuff (not that this will necessarily save you from rough handling), but if they wouldn't let it through at all, it would be a problem. |

check your power supply as it might have a switch at the back that supports the 240 volts needed in Korea. Then you will only need to buy a power cable that fits the korean outlets. I have a high quality PSU that had this option so i didn't need to buy a new one arriving here. |
