Anyone heard of this? It's available for 350,000 krw from:

http://www.interpark.com/product/MallDisplay.do?_method=Detail&sc.shopNo=0000100000&sc.dispNo=008001&sc.prdNo=32356817

Gets excellent reviews from all sources I can find!

I know you really like the topsync monitors but would like to know why. The icarus seems newer and very very well reviewed over 100 reviews at a 9.9 rating.

Where are all these rave reviews? I googled and couldn't find one. If they're on a K-site I wouldn't trust them. The top sync is faster at 5ms.

That is one ugly fing monitor! I'd skip a brand that you'd never heard of before coming to Korea, unless you see it in person first and know exactly what it looks like.

I am going to look at them this afternoon so will let you know. If I like the look of it I will pick one up. Spoke to one of the technicians at the assembly plant and they are using the new P-MVA panels. From the sounds of things it's a small workshop in yongsan that buys the panels then puts them together! Will let you know later.

That casing just looks cheap. If that isn't a concern to you and the internals check out, then maybe that is for you.

I am really not bothered by casing. It has a slim bezel; no speakers; DVI (HDCP), D-Sub, and component connections; pivot, tilt, elevation and swivel; and uses a great panel. I will get back with some photo's later Smile

Pretty cool when you can always answer your own questions, huh? I mean, a bit redundant to ask them, but still...neat.

I thought the casing on that icarus looked way cheap as well. Topsync's casing is top rate and sturdy (nice corners and glossy black that makes it look almost ceramic)w/ speakers and pivot....looks real cool from behind as well . I'm looking at mine as I write and it's just a quality casing. Also, it's faster. If your going to Yongson the big topsync store is in the basement and you can get 20,000 lower than the cheapest price on the net as it's the wholesale dealer...probably get the 24' (5MS, 1000/1)for around 330,000. The hd model is more though.

Also, I wouldn't put much if any face on what a K-technician told me over the phone...you think he's gonna say "yeah were using some second rate panel" if that really were the case.... Laughing

Just got back....with monitor in hand. Had a good look at them and I was impressed so bought one. Checked the panel and it is indeed the new P-MVA panel (manufactured Jan 2008). This is the same panel a lot of the high spec LG, BenQ and Zeus monitors are using (all around 500-600,000krw). There is no backlight bleed or dead pixels. So far I am seriously impressed. The monitor can be moved into any position and adjusted in height - something I definately wanted! Going to do some more testing with films and games (including scaling with my Wii) but at the moment I can't see any ghosting or other problems.

The bezel is plastic in a matte black finish. It is slim and does the job. Will get some pictures up soon so you can have a look for yourself.

It also apparently does picture in picture from another source but I still need to figure that one out.

Demophobe - I asked people on here if they had any personal experience with the monitor. Didn't get any answers so got a Korean friend to help me ring them up and talk to them. If there is no more interest in this thread I won't post another reply. I am just trying to help anyone in the market for a new monitor.

Did you buy from the shop directly...how much all in all?

Well I don't know who exactly owned the shop but it was a small office that handled orders for the monitor. All in it was 349,000KRW. No dead pixels, no backlight bleed that I can see and the panel is SUPERB.

Just tried picture in picture mode. Can play Wii with half the screen and browse on the other half. Pretty damn cool!
