That could be me in a couple decades if I don't get my act in gear and finally settle down.
If one is worried about their retirement and doesn't have enough saved up in their own country, the reality is that there are plenty of south Asia women looking for western guys solely as status symbols. A portion of the documentary "My Boyfriend: the Sex Tourist" talks about this same issue. |

It's creepy. And there is no way she is doing it because she wants to. We don't know what kind of pressure she is under. Additionally all that crap about what a good little wifie she is makes me sick.
On the other hand 4,000 pounds for a new house in Indonesia? That sounds pretty good. |

A grossly simplistic and indecent binary. There are many motivations to make a relationship consensual. Both parties genuinely seeking this course of action, for what ever reason, suffices to make it consensual.
I find it most interesting that natural selection hasn't taken account of the fact that a sexual relationship between an old man and young woman is creepy. |

He's not lying . I've seen it daily . The greatest trick these women ever play is the illusion that they need and want to be saved . In ride the white knights to save their fair maidens . For the most part in the equation the men are the victims , but then some might argue that they get what they deserve for being such idiots to believe these young girls would care about them . But that's thailand , a place that gets 20 million or more of these white knights flying in every year so the this behaviour is normalised for some girls . Even a good majority of the young guys going over there thinking they suddenly become brad pitt when they get off the plane are being played . They don't know it...and they don't want to know it ....they don't want to pop the illusion that they have become rockstars ...but there's plenty where they came from . I used to hang out in certain bars in bangkok....normal tourist bars , nothing seedy ...and the see the same girls with a different love struck idiot every week . She's get taken on trips , bought food and drinks and get to shag a new guy every week .....then the emailing and the stories and the western union . Seen it all .
But that aside of course there are plenty of great , intelligent . educated girls in thailand who would reject this lifestyle ....but that's only because they had the luxury to do so . Whatever the case is , for people to only see the girls as victims just shows perhaps you don't really know what you are talking about . |

I find it 'most interesting', Justin Hale, that you want to justify this practice by appealing to Darwinism. That's a beautiful philosophy where the strong survive and the weakest go to the wall. Fits this situation perfectly. Haven't you heard that Dawkins and other evolution apologists explicitly do *not* hold it up as a model for morality? |

Nah . I was talking specifically about Thai women and the fact that they are so much in demand they THEY are less likely to fall in love with any provider ....because frankly they are spoilt for choice . The same doesn't go for all the Thai women and certainly not for the rest of south east asia . I think plenty of girls do fall in love with their sugar daddies . When you've spent a portion of your life hungry and struggling I don't think you can be expected to have formulated such shallow expectation from love such as "looks and fashion sense" . In such a scenario they might very much appreciate the life that's been given them to the extent they could love the guy . I don't know ....human beings are amazingly adaptable . |

My discussion of natural selection is an attempt to bring objective criteria into the discussion rather than just subjective, artibtrary ethics. My defence of the couple is based on autonomy, consent, with natural selection a backdrop. I'm well aware of the fact that evolutionists generally do not hold it up as a model for morality. In basic evolution, consensual homosexual sex is wrong and heterosexual rape of a woman is okay. But because we are moral creatures and have compassion and believe that we are autonomous with no right to take ownership of someone else's body and life (also having origins in natural selection, I might add) we forbid heterosexual rape and not consensual homosexual intercourse. I'm only stating it as a fact that men of 90 and women of 13 can potentially reproduce perfectly healthy offspring to guard against arbitrary ignorance towards nature. |
