|
|
So I'm starting a new contract in March but won't have time to look for a more permanent place to lay my head. I'll be near the University of Suwon.
I'm looking for something cheap for a month. Just something to get by while I get adjusted and look. It doesn't need space. I would like an internet connection though so I can do my Master's work with ease.
Really, that's all I care about. An internet connection. I just want a place until I find a more permanent apartment to lay my head in.
I recall reading something about these but the search function keeps timing out on me.
Any advice? |

I know tons of places around Hongdae. You can google Kim's Guesthouse, which is I think 15 000 won a day. There are also yeogwans that are cheaper, smaller, and don't have Internet access. Most of them aren't seedy and are filled with studying students. I could give you specific directions to two that I've put friends up in. |

You can probably find a decent motel in Suwon that has Internet access and negotiate one month for W400,000 or W500,000, but bring along a Korean-speaker to assist in negotiations if need be. Yogwans are slightly more downscale and won't have Internet access. |

Actually, Inchon Int'l Airport has free wireless Internet access. You could pull a Tom Hanks for a month. |

Not recommended. I slept my first night in Korea on the floor at Incheon. It was cold.
Still, Incheon security didn't give me 'the eye' (like the machine gun weilding guards at a German airport did) when I had to doss for a couple of nights |

I went to Tegel Airport in Berlin the night before my flight one winter in the late 90s because of a blizzard. They were gracious, but had me go to an area in a basement to sleep. |

Try www.tour2korea.com and follow the links through reservations and accommodation.
You can also sleep at the airport Jimjilbang for 10-15000 or any Jimjilbang for around that price. Just pack something resembling a pillow as the block of timber is a bit hard on the neck.
As for internet access there is a pc bang on every corner and free internet on level 2 at the airport.
The airport bus to Suwon takes under an hour and costs around 10-14000 by the way. |

just around the corner from Suwon University is Suwon Science College.
It is on a small lake and there are some decent love motels there that are hurting for business. you could negotiate a weekly or monthly rate. I stayed a few nights for 20k. tv, internet, nice view, bathtub. |
