As of January this year, the health insurance rate has gone up to 5.08% from 4.77%. Your first paycheck should have half of that (2.54%) deducted.

Good to know - so my health insurance rate in my contract is ok after all. Just my possibly overinflated tax rate I need to know about now. I wouldn't mind so much if I was at least going to get my pension money back Evil or Very Mad

I was disappoited with my health insurance this week. I had to make a trip to the hospital, and my insurance paid for less than 40% of the total bill. Boo-urns health insurance... boo-urns.

Don't have one. NHIC's site still has the 4.48% figure. I just used my powers of deduction because one poster said he was being charged 50% of 5.08% and my boss told me the other day that it has gone up to that amount. He probably got a letter and NHIC hasn't updated their site yet.

Your boss would've received a letter if you're already paying into it.

Well, my arthroscopic knee surgery (two and-a-half days in hospital) cost under $1,000 total - I think it's often around $5,000 (w/o insurance) in the U.S. - so it's been worth it for me ...

And the MRI (not covered as much by the insurance) cost me $350 here - much cheaper than the average U.S price (at least a couple thousand $...)

I think the insurance premiums only cost us less than a hundred dollars a year, right ?
