Hi,

I got a friend a job at one of our schools. Everything went very smoothly until now. He's in Canada and has already had an E2 visa. He sent me all the paperwork: Degree, transcripts, CRC, self health check etc... The director of the school went to immigration and 9 days later got the visa issuance number.

My friend went to the consulate to get his visa and they told him he needed to provide them with sealed transcripts. The only copy he has are sitting with the Daejeon immigration office. They told him to go to a consulate in Japan, to get his visa, since they don't require transcripts if you have a visa issuance number.

I was under the impression that once the visa issuance number was cleared, everything was good to go.

My assumption is that he fell on a consulate clerk that didn't know what he/she was talking about.

My first instinct would be to get the school's director to get the Daejeon immigration office to contact the Toronto consulate and ask them what gives.

Anyway, we have no problem sending him for a visa run to Japan , but the logic in this escapes me.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

The logic of this escapes you? Say what? You expected logic???????????

I'm sorry, my comments aren't very helpful, I just couldn't ignore your logic statement. You're probably right, the person at the consulate didn't know what they were doing...and why would one consulate have different rules than another consulate?

It's not the logic of that that escapes me, it's the legality of it...
