I won't miss any of them as they are all available in major north american cities. Plus my wife is Korean and will cook for me. |
I can't find dong-dong-ju anywhere in Vancouver. And I doubt you won't be able to either. And I seriously doubt your wife has ever made it or can learn how. |
I rarely drink, and then it is only beer. Won't miss it. sorry to hear you can't find it. Have you tried Korea town? Perhaps it is restricted by Canadian authorities for some stupid reason. |

How can korean food made in north america not taste like the real thing? It is authentic. I mean the korean restaurants employ korean cooks, waitresses and are buying their kimchee at the korean markets who import the stuff from korea. Take a walk in a korean market in any city and it'll smell like korea. Most of the food items are imported from korea. Even the cabbage in many cases. Even the pots they use to bury the kim chee in come from korea. Seaweed, red paste, bean curd, etc. all imported. I think about the only thing not imported is water? Beef? Heck, I even see soju, cigarettes, OB, the list is endless. |

It tastes different because it is prepared slightly different to suit the local market. This is why Chinese food in Canada tastes different than Chinese food in Korea which tastes different than Chinese food in Taiwan or mainland china. |
