how many of you have taught at a uni? what do you think of it? any big complaints? what are the biggest pluses? would you do it again? in what ways is it superior to other jobs? would you stay in korea a long time and do it continuously? thanks for any replies, double thanks if they are without caustic comments |

Uni's are like any job here -- there are good ones and bad ones. The big plus is vacation time -- as much as five months, but some uni's expect you to work through vacations at their institute which may be just a hagwon with the uni's name on the building. People who stay in Korea for several years often gravitate to Uni's. Then again, don't overlook Public schools. I would say the highest average satisfaction rate in teaching jobs are public schools. Not as much 'official' vacation time, but very often the local school looks the other way during summer and winter vacations. The salaries at public's are often better than some uni's
If you have a master's degree and a couple years teaching then you can make more at a Uni, though. It's possible to make 3-4 Million won a month at a uni if you have a good looking resume.
