|
|
I recently graduated in December, and my diploma will not be issued to me until June at Spring Convocation.
I'm pretty far in my process of getting all my documents, and have already signed a contract, with my recruiter and school knowing i dont have my original diploma, but have a "Certificate of Degree Obtainment" and "Certificate of Graduation", as well as the usual sealed transcripts, etc.
I know the Korean Immigration in Korea accepts these Ceritifcates, however, the past few days Ive heard that the Toronto Consulate will not stamp these as they dont accept them. I called them and they verifed this as truth.
Now, Im going to get all my documents that need to be notarized, notarized, and head in there and see if they will stamp it.
If not, any suggestions?
Im thinking if they dont, ill just notify my recruiter and send her my stamped, and notarized CBC along with the ceritifcate (unstamped from the Korean Toronto consulate) along with everything else.
Will korean immigration take these if they havt been stamped by the Consulate in Toronto?
Anyways, any help or suggestions would be awesome.
PS. The toronto consulate is in talks with the Korean immigration on solving this issue, so they do know there is a huge disconnect. hopeuflly by the time i go in, it will be resolved.
also, ill let everyone know how it goes
cheers |

Who told you that the Korean immigration will accept a letter or graduation, or similar, if you have completed the degree but have not got your diploma parchment?

I was in talks with two recruiters. One based in Toronto, and one from Korea. They both told me that Korean Immigration will take these, from their experiences.
As well, the Toronto recruiter had meetings with the Korean Consulate in Toronto about this last week, and the Consulate is aware that Korean Immigration is taking these and there is an obvious disconnect.
Finally, if Korean immigration does accept these, and gives me a visa issuance number, am i in the clear then? |

The new regulations specifically say that a "certificate of academic degree" or "certificate of graduation" are acceptable proof of an applicant's academic credentials. These documents, unlike an original diploma, must be apostilled. If your country is not a signatory to the apostille treaty (read: Canada), you must have the document notarized, then authenticated at a Korean consulate.
Quote: |
(Applicants may choose one of the following)
- Original copy of the diploma (will be returned to the applicant after making a copy and having it sealed as a legitimate copy)
- Copy of the diploma (verified by the Korean consulate or attached with documents verifying highest education, issued by Korean Council for University Education)
- Certificate of academic degree issued by the relevant university. (Affixed with an apostille or attached with documents verifying highest education, issued by domestic verification agency)
- Certificate of graduation that lists acquisition of diploma (Affixed with apostille or attached with documents verifying highest education, issued by domestic verification agency)
※ Nationals of countries that have not signed the apostille treaty must get verification from the local Korean consulate or attach documents verifying highest education, issued by domestic verification agency |

Apparently the visa number is only issued when your papers pass out of immigration.
