I had a face to face interview last week with a public school in Gwangmyeong and they agreed to sign me to a contact. I supposed to meet them today to submit the paper work, however, I just received a phone call from one of the teacher's at the school. Apparently she said that there was an argument between the principal and the administration officer and were unable to meet with me today to submit the documents to immigration. I asked what was the problem, but she couldn't exactly explain the situation clear, however, she assured me that the problem wasn't because of me. She went on told me they never had their paper work ready, so we should meet sometime next week, most likely Tuesday. Again, I find it strange because they had a week to prepare.

I find this situation quite strange because everything was set up ready to go. Also, I cannot fully understand what the problem actually is. Why were they fighting? I asked her if they still wanted to sign me, and she said yes. But she started to apologizing repeatedly. So I'm wondering, what is the problem? Why can't they just accept my signed contract?

Has anyone working for GEPIK experienced this before? I'd like some clue what exactly is going on because I am really confused. What is GEPIK's hiring process?

Someone please clue me in.

The Principle probably thought they signed you for too much and wanted the teacher to get another contract signed for less.
Really, it sounds normal to me...I wouldn't worry. Laughing

Hmmm... I don't think they were arguing. You don't argue with the Principle. I think administration just took a heap of crap thrown at them because they sat on their fat asses eating rice cake when they were supposed to get your documents ready.

You might be right about that. I will be classified as a category 1 teacher on their payscale. However, I was told I'll be the schools first foreign teacher and you would think the principal would be thrilled to have an experienced elementary school teacher working at his school.

The first teacher? Is that a good thing or bad thing?
