Single Mother Slept with 960 Johns
Donga.com (February 5, 2008)
http://english.donga.com/srv/service.php3?biid=2008020548718
Quote:
Police arrested yesterday a 40-something single mother who is alleged to have slept with 960 men for money over the past year. She is known to have met her customers through adult telephone rooms, or "jeonhwabangs."

... "She said she turned to prostitution to pay for her children's educational expenses, such as school fees."

"Though we have cracked down (on prostitution) many times, it is extremely rare to see someone who has had so many customers in such a short time."

Real Reality,

Wow!

Are you as shocked as the rest of the nation? Really, that's a lot of banging!

I feel very sorry for her. At the same time, though, something as potentially harmful to public health as prostitution should not be ignored.

Why do you feel sorry for her ? Do you really think she's having this much sex just to pay for educational fees ?

Rolling Eyes

It's her body . Maybe she enjoys it . The bathhouse girls in Thailand often entertain 5 men everyday and make a lot of money doing something they consider easy and fun (more fun that going hungry or doing real work anyway). Who's the victim ?

What exactly is an adult telephone room? I have an idea of what it is but I could be way off.

960 seems like a huge number. Shocked

Wilt "the stilt" claimed to have had 20,000 partners.

and he was doing most of the work! and he had a day job.

I'm guessing taking care of drunken guys who have trouble getting it up isn't the most physically taxing of jobs. Probably alot of "down" time. Twisted Evil

But it says something about a culture if she can even think of using that as an excuse.

Yes, and while we're at it, lets reinstate slavery. Its just the poor providing a service which the rich(er) demand. Granted, its the entire life and unquestioned servitude of the poor that the rich demand in that situation, not only for them, but for their children as well, but hey they're demanding so who are we to stand in the way?

Seriously, I thought the purpose of laws was to protect the poor and powerless from those who would abuse them?

hahahahahaha. Lots of people are poor and powerless. Some choose to go on welfare. Some choose to get knocked up and have a guy support them. Some choose to get a job or two and struggle to make ends meet. Some work in brothels. Different strokes for different folks. I'm sure many women would want to punch you out if you denied them the living they make as pros, and forced them to go work as waitresses in some kal-guk-su restaurant, hunched over all day making 3 bucks an hour.

seriously, can you find a better use for all of our time than worrying about what grown adults choose to do for a living?

My gosh, this is the worst drivel I've read, are you a @#$#!! Bible thumper? Legalizing prostitution is one way to prevent pimps from abusing their girls AND taxing the billion dollar industry. Sure a few girls are forced into the industry but legalizing it would lead to regulation of the sector and such.

While prostitution is not the world's oldest profession (the priesthood is), it sure will last longer than many other occupations.

It illustrates how obsessed Koreans are with their kid's education. They'll pay any amount of won to give their kid an edge.

unchecked prostitution is bad for public health.

If prostitutes were to have proper insurance and health care + sex education etc ..., it would actually serve the public health ...
