Sure, pick a heavily ignored ESL Teacher in Korea blogsite with a chat board, that means all of them and set up accounts for a discussion. I'll defend the claim "Adolph Hitler was the greatest humanitarian that ever lived and the greatest hope for mankind" and we'll go from there.

I can't tell you whats wrong with this place because its too PC/Commie.

CS: Pearl Harbor is not in Iraq. I can't stand GWB, btw. Neither can 60% of Americans.

He was tortured for 5 years. I'm sure he is a tad bitter.

To put it in perspective, look at how much American Koreans go crazy when people in the US ask them where they are from (or mistake them for Chinese). It is a source of a great deal of anti-White/Black hate among them. And that is just a question. 5 years of torture is bound to cause some permanent feelings of ill will.

I disagree with JM's policies on a lot of things, but he gets a pass on this.

Let's say he was tortured by black people and he uses the N-word instead of "gook".
He's not some guy off the streets but a politician.
How would the media respond to that?
But it's okay as long as he refers the N-word to the guards and not all black people right?

Yeah, I'm sure he'll get a pass.

Maybe I've become too "Asian" in the past 4 years but I'm inclined to consider his "special situation". I seriously doubt that many people would walk away from such a horrific situation as well adjusted as he seems to be.

He should not have used that word, and he ought to not use it again. But in a fit of emotion or a "flashback" I can respect the mistake. We all are, after all, human.

Sticks and stones, remember. I think he knows that as much as any live person.

The US response (to the unprovoked attack on the Panay)? They placed a trade embargo on Japan, not unlike the global trade embargo on South Africa, in response to 'Apartheid', but still allowed much needed American oil into Japan . American missionaries saved thousands of Chinese in the Nanking massacre, & they had no political agenda, whatsoever.

And Japan also attacked Darwin in Australia, in February 1942, just 2 months after Pearl Harbour. Did Australia also invite / provoke the attack by Japan? No.

The issue is complicated and various historians have different takes . Other red flag events are far less controversial . It comes down to faith on either side in the available evidence and certainly you can't just write off one argument off . What doesn't come down to faith is that the united states actively lied about the reasons to invade Iraq and tried/are trying to pull the same stunt with Iran . Any war that is worth fighting can surely be justified by giving the real motives .What do you suggest they are for this war ?

The issue of altriusm is a whole debate on its own . Could you really convince yourself that the war with Iraq was for the benefit of Iraqis ?

CS: You've neither refuted, nor answered the question / statements I made, in relation to your original claim, that Americans allowed Pearl Harbour to happen. Instead, you've launched into a critique on Iraq. 2 entirely different topics. Or am I missing something here?

This is REAL simple. Lets say his captors were black and he inserted the n-word where gooks is.

Are you still going to say, "Oh, its ok to say that because its in the context of his prison guard captors."

I am 100000000000000000000% sure if McCain said I hate n**gers, NO MATTER THE CONTEXT, there would be uproar all across America.

You're correct.

How ironic, though, that the arguably most racist, exclusionist bunch of Americans are offended when they receive a bit of their own stuff in their faces, eh?

Bullwinkle opined to me after Supper that he thought this was yet another example of Asian Double Standard vis-a-vis Whitey - especially W.A.S.P.s.

Seriously, all should be treated by the same standards, and I'll stand by this maxim for the rest of my life.

Respectfully,

R & B
