I am a woman who is going to be working at an elemantary English school in Seongbuk. Is the teacher dress code generally more formal than in the states? What would you suggest bringing with me? Thanks!

I would suggest business casual, or what mature teachers wear to school in the US (I mean not the capris, flipflops, and cleavage of the younger teachers.) Slacks or a skirt, a blouse or a nice t-shirt. You might want to being a few nice outfits for the first week of school and special events. And layers of longjohns and sweaters for the winter months.

Well I was a young teacher in the West and never wore flipflops or capris or showed my cleavage at work. That aside...my school here is more casual than my school back home.

Clean jeans or a long skirt with thin sweaters or V-neck tops. I have a few dresses that I wear from time to time. But at my school all the women wear jeans. Not all schools are as casual as mine.

I so wish I could have worked with you in the US...but alas, that was not the standard where I was.
