Matches to take place between 15 October 2008 and 9 September 2009, which probably means two more matches in 2008.
Top-4 in Asia qualify for the World Cup, 5th placed team will play the Oceania champion (most likely New Zealand) for the final spot at the World Cup. |
Ah, the World Cup. Well, let the madness begin (although this is a low key set of fixtures in the first half of 2008 � no doubt the Koreans will assume that six wins out of six are a given� well maybe the matches v North Korea will be of some interest though).
When the final rounds starts in the second half of the year, things should be more interesting. If Korea ends up in a group with Japan and Australia, qualification might become a bit of a challenge. |

Friendly match
South Korea 0-1 Chile
A pretty dull match in front of a tiny crowd. Not the best start for Heo Jung-moo (the first Korean to take charge of the Korean team in seven years).
The England based players will be there for the Turkmenistan match though and hopefully, as the first World Cup qualifier, it will generate more excitement.

Turkmenistan match is in a few days and still no kick off time confirmed yet? I've been looking around but can't find anything...
Edit - According to the KFA website (wee moving fixtures box) the kick off is at 8pm... |

| The fact that Huh Jung-moo was hired as coach shows the Korean Football Association doesn't give a squat about the national team anymore. Korea has failed to score a goal in 506 minutes dating back to the Asian Cup last year. |

Am I right assuming those suspended players from last year still can't play? The goalie grandfather and the other drunkards.

I think that their plan is to qualify for the final stage of the qualifiers and then go for a big name. At the moment, with two years to go to the next World Cup, it is difficult to find a big name Euro coach who�d be willing to move to Sparkling. Look at Advocaat� he took over just months before Korea took part in the last WC.
Tonight won't be pretty but Korea will do enough to win 1-0. |

| korea pulled the finger a bit and did in the end win 4-0. while they (Turmenistan) were the weakest team in the group is still didn't see it on the horion so my hat goes down to SK and that 0-0 merchant Huh Jung-moo ... wonder if they get any wins at the North East Asian Championship though... |
