This is a serious question, so please no rudeness or flaming. I am a communications major in my last year of uni and I have to give a presentation to the class comparing western style humour to Asian style humour for my multicultural comm. class.
Has anyone got any ideas? I have seen a few funny videos on youtube. Asians seem to like physical comedy, like the show on tv from Japan, the MXC Challenge, which I find hilarious. |

You might want to try a forum for Koreans where people can speak English. Here you'll get the perspectives of mostly English teachers looking into a foreign culture.
Either way, I've noticed that irony, sarcasm, or dry humor seems to elude many here. That just may be a second-language thing though.
They love cheesy slapstick and situational comedy. "Friends" is really funny to many Koreans. |

Koreans like visual humor. When my wife and I lived in the States back in the mid-80s, her favorite show was Three's Company (borrowed from the earlier British comedy Man About the House). It was interesting to find out, as we met more and more Koreans Stateside, many of them also said TC was their favorite show. Avoid humor that is verbal and culturally based, as it will mostly go over peoples' heads. |

from what i've seen, koreans seem to love jokes about body functions, some even joke about the times teachers hit them. |
