I just got my CRC, and got it the same day. So I'm thinking, that was way faster then what everyone was talking about. I talked to a recruiter, and he said I need a Vulnerable Sector Search, and the only way to do this is through fingerprints.

So I went and paid $42 for the fingerprinting..then I need to mail that off to Ottawa, with another $25.

Now do I really need to get this finger print check before I can get my visa? I was told it will take approx. 8 weeks to recieve the check.

So it looks like Korea start date of March 1st is out of the question if this is true....

why do you need fingerprints to get your Vulnerable sector search?

I just got my CBC done with the vulnerable sector section. it took 2 wks from my local police station and did not need to get finger prints, or send it to Ottawa.

it was just a paragraph on my criminal check, saying im clear

Really bizzare

That's what the b1tch at the RCMP told me what I had to do.

God damn these new regulations are driving me crazy....Maybe it's time to go to a new country.

Does anyone have a link to where I can get the vulnerable sector search in 2 weeks??

go to another local police station. or to your regional police office.

there is no way they need fingerprints for the vulnerable sector search.

I didn't need to do any fingerprinting for mine... maybe it depends on the city you are in??

Oh what the hell...I've already spent $84 on CRC, and now the finger prints to get the vulnerable sector search.

So I was told the only way to get the vulnerable sector search is by fingerprints!!

Can you just walk in and get a CBC with the vulnerable sector search done whenever you want to?

As in, do you need to have a prospective employer, who they send the search to directly, or does it come to you for you to do what you will with it?

Yeah, you can get one at any time. You dont need a employer or anything.

Depending on where you are from, it may take up to 4 weeks. they told me 4-5 weeks, but it was ready within 2.

Some rural areas, they can do it for you right there.

I was told about 8 weeks. Maybe I should just mail away for it, and see how long it takes.

This sucks!! I had a great job lined up in Korea with 10 weeks vacation, the whole thing was great, and I was super excited...

These new regulations are F'ing me over!!

Hey Darkness,

What city are you living in? I have researched this issue to the nth degree. I might be able to shed some light on your situation.

From my understanding, the Korean embassy in Vancouver doesn't require the Vulnerable sector search. Give them a call. Otherwise there is an organization called Corps of Commissioners. http://www.commissionaires.ca/services/police-clearances.html

They might have an office in Vancouver.

However, I am 99% certain that Vancouver doesn't require the VSS, only a regular CBC.

Hope that helps.

That's great! Thanks, I'll try calling the embassy tomorrow.

Fingers crossed I only need a CRC....

They may be closed as it is Lunar New Year. But, try it out. I have spoken to a dumba$$ at the Embassy in Toronto, and she confirmed that the regulations are different from each embassy.

What a joke, how can different embassy's have different rules? Typically Korean non-sense...

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help!
