I've recently moved to Bundang (specifically Jeongja). I don't know the area that well, so I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend some good times in Jeongja beyond the typically bar-hopping - not that I'm not interested in some good bar recommendations, just hoping to go beyond that.

I also have a wife and newborn baby, so I'm wondering 1) what's your favorite thing to do in Bundang that a family could do together, and 2) what's your favorite thing to do in Bundang out with some other guys? I'm particularly interested in things that are outside the norm, but just normal good restaurants, cafes, and places to go are good, too.

Thanks in advance.

I live in Jeongja too, basically there is Cafe street. It has some interesting wine bars and Italian restaurants. If you go near the SK building there are also some interesting places to eat and drink. For families, I think Bundang has a few parks, and of course there is the river where lots of families walk and picnic (in spring and fall). Jeongja is a nice place, with a good quality of life, but I would never be able to survive without my car; maybe you could look into getting one and exploring a bit further afield.

Anyway, welcome to the neighborhood!

Head to Yuldong park for a day out. (10 minute drive) There's a nice, new Thai restaurant on the outskirts of the park. Large lake, bungee, Buddhist temple, bike rentals, some sporting fields and a wading pool.

Obviously better when warm. Wink

Thanks, rjrs0510 and pidgin, for the ideas. I live a stone's throw from Cafe Street, so that one's on my list, and I've heard of that park, too. Not too many responses, so I guess everyone's tired of Bundang threads... Sad

Pidgin, please change your avatar! Smile Just kidding, but man, I can barely stomach watching it.

Anyone else got any Bundang ideas?

Central Park, between Sunae and Seohyeon stations, is nice. And as somebody said, the Tancheon stream is a pleasant place to walk when the weather warms up. If you like taking strolls, there are some quiet neighborhoods east of Sunae station. Lots of quaint villas and little parks. Sunae-3-dong, if I recall correctly.

You can't do this with a newborn, but in Seongnam---same city as Bundang---is Namhansanseong, an old mountain fortress. It has a stop on the pink line. It's pretty big, but you can spend a few hours just hiking around there. Seongnam also has a big market area at near Moran and Taepyeong stations. Moran is notorious for the dog market (don't go) and a high concentration of places related to the sex trade . . . but the area around Taepyeong is kind of neat. Presents a different look at Seongnam for when Bundang gets stale (and it will).

My g/f lives in Jeongja. It's very nice/upscale, but there is nothing really to do other than empty your pockets on commodities.

Choosing Bundang is like going to England and living in Milton Keynes.

Haha. That pretty much sums it up. I think the OP should be heading over to Seohyun. Cheaper restaurants and a few decent bars. Try Dublin Bar, not too bad.
