Is buying a non-name brand that has a name-brand panel the best way to monitor shop?
I bought a new samsung 26" TN pannel (not even PVA) for 630,000. I feel that maybe UI could have done better looking for no-name brands using good panels that name brands use.
Is that the best way to shop in Korea?
BTW is bargaining and price checking essential at Yongsan - if you just go to the first shop that has something and take their price will you only be out like 10% or can you truly end up spending WAY more than you would if you worked at it? |

| If I got that and picked up some component cables, could I plug my Wii directly in and play at 480p? |

Do your research before buying anything in Yongsan. Go with a list of what you want and the price as listed on danawa. I paid slightly less then the online danawa price for my whole system.
A lot of the time you are paying a lot extra for a pretty bezel and something that says "LG" on it. The underlying panels are the same. There are only a couple of companies that actually make the panels. TN/IPS/*VA all have there own advantages and disadvantages - do some research and think about what you want to use it for. The P-MVA panel is a very good all rounder and is normally one of the more expensive panels.
For this price point, I don't think you can beat this monitor for features or the panel!

Yes . It does a very good job of it as well.

Thanks for the recommendation on the psu - it's excellent! Quiet and solid lines to boot! |

If a no-name and a name brand have the same panel, is there any advantage to the name brand?
Why do so many people pay premium for the name brand aside from returns, warrentee, service, etc..?
Don't get me wrong - I'm happy with my samsung 2693hm - I wanted TN due to gaming speed. Obviously an IPS would be almost as fast and super pretty - but that is pricey.
That being said, in Yongsan I did not find many 24"+ MONITORS actually in stock. They all said the market wasn't that big for them, they take up valuable floor space, and so the market is best served via online buying or ordering in Korea. |

How are you finding the monitor?
I have one more question about playing the Wii on it. Would I be right in assuming that the leads need to be connected to some kind of hifi or stereo? The monitor doesn't have anything by the way of speakers built in right? |

"Many manufacturers use a third party firm to provide the panels. Panels are rated as A, B or C grades. Even within a given manufacturer, different models will use different grade panels. There are no specs that provide information as to the panel grade. B and C grade panels are used by mass merchant sites who want to move a volume at the lowest price." |
