Powell carries a lot of weight. This reads like an endorsement of Obama. Hmmm...Obama/Powell. That could be an interesting ticket. Military and diplomatic experience Obama lacks. Bipartisan/biracial unity theme. Nightmares for the Klan. |

| Powell won't endorse Obama or run with him. Get real. I'd even venture to guess he won't endorse anyone this time around. Sure he said a couple of nice words about Obama, but it doesn't mean much. It very well could have been a direct question he was asked by a reporter and he was being polite. |

I would love to see Obama running come November.
But I really think the powers-that-be point towards Hiliary Clinton.
If the race remains as close as it is, it's really going to come down to pulling the right strings, and the Clintons know all the right strings to pull. |

Powell won't take any VP spot. His wife comes first and she's been clinically depressed for more than a decade.
I'd be surprised if he publicly endorsed anyone although by not mentioning McCain he seems to be distancing himself from that prospect.
Look for McCain to choose Lieberman to pull away conservative Dems, depending on the eventual nominee of that party. Or he might turn to a Southern governor with a clear stand on conservative hot button issues.
If it goes down to the wire and then to the convention, Bill will pull every string, even G-strings, with Hillary tugging with him.
Chelsea might even be asked to do lap dances for conventioneers. (Now, that's not nice, Steve.)
If Iraq fades as a hot-button issue and Clinton is perceived as one who will tax and spend, avoiding a viable solution to the illegal immigrant problem, you can bet McCain would win.
If Obama wins the nomination, it's a whole new ball game. Could be a contrast similar to the Eisenhower and Kennedy atmosphere, although McCain is no Nixon by a long shot. |

As far as I can tell, the people who own the applecart are supporting Obama. Or at least some of them anyway.

Yeah Steve, given the latest comments from the media you can only imagine where that's going to lead. But since you are not a reporter you are probably safe. I don't think there is big enough rock for that guy at MSMBC to hide under right now. Come to think of it, if I were him, I'd get a large anchor, a rope and find a very deep river.

There is a threat of assassination. the NPR show Talk of the Nation discussed it in great detail a few weeks back.
And it seems that the government takes it seriously enough.

Amazingly poor judgement to use the expression "pimping out" in regards to the Clintons and Chelsea. I'm sure the fall-out would have been greatly reduced if he had re-worded his comment to perhaps "....the Clintons have pressed Chelsea into service contacting celebrities and superdelegates..", or something along those lines. |
