Met some great argentinians in australia, think I'll check them out and their country first... also, always wanted to get some boxing tuition in , in mexico...Yeah!!!!

There was a job advertised last year in Jenin Refugee Camp in the West Bank just after the Israeli military took the place down. God only knows what happened to the previous teacher but they advertised it as "Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the hills"... Confused and "Get more than just money because you'll get to experience the Middle East conflict first hand."
It may still be available if you're interested BB.... Twisted Evil

not a bad gig Smile. I'll be semi-close next summer in Cairo. Although having an Apache helicopter interupt my class doesn't sound that pleasant.

A while back, rapier mentioned that nothing here phased him anymore. I felt this way during my second year of teaching in Taiwan.

Spit on a chopstick then flick it on the Taiwanese teacher? Sure, why not.
Punch me in the nuts and when I pull you away tell your mother that I was abusing you? Go for it.
Urinate on my scooter before I leave work? Heck, I clearly deserve it, having travelled so far just to act like a fool on your behalf.

As much as I like Korea, I just have that "been there, done that" feeling. Spitting on the sidewalk/my shoe? Nothing new to an experienced traveller such as myself.
Coughing in my face? Spread the wealth my fine comrade.

There's more, but I wrote about this stuff years ago and don't want to repeat myself. I need a new country filled with oddities. Not Asia and definitely not Africa.

Any recommendations?

Recall the Buddhist parable of the dog with fleas (and no, I'm not comparing you with a dog). No matter where the dog moved, the fleas moved with him.

In the same regard, I'm not sure what you are looking for, and I'm not saying you have problems, but it's hard enough for most people to find a place that they are comfortable with. Perhaps you'll go to the next place, find it exciting for a while and then get bored and want to move to other pastures. If a change of scenery is what you're after, fine but oftentimes I think there are deeper issues involved and stuff.

Good luck in your search.

I would recommend Egypt, India or Sri Lanka. Remember: "When you pull off the main road, you have to be prepared to see some funny houses."

I don't know...

Life right now just seems to be dragging along at a pace not unlike that of a solitary snail...

You could always liven things up again. My suggestion: while walking down the street in Itaewon, hit on a few unsuspecting MALES, then come here and tell us what happened.

Given your apparent bitterness, and it does happen in Korea, more often than not, I recommend an ESL gig off-planet; I hear there are openings on Rigel-4. Some people are simply p-o'd wherever they happen to be . It's not about the place, it's about you. As some wise guy once said: "Wherever you go, there you are".

No. This is what wise guys say:
