I'm bloody addicted. Those 4.5 kg bags at Emart may not be meant for one person, but they do me well enough for a month or so.
And to think I hated the stuff when I was back home.. |

Speaking of saurkraut, which I love dearly (Mom's grandparents immigrated from Germany so we got a LOT of German food), have you ever tried Chinese saurkraut? That stuff's pretty good. I can't remember the real name of it though. |

Kimchi is kimchi. I go ballistic in my own understated way when it's served with pizza, Thai food, or any other retarded mismatch.
With Korean food it's fine (as long is it's not the skunky stuff).

I like it and always have. And come on guys we all know 'kimchi' primarily means the cabbage kimchi so let's have none of this 'Which kimchi?' bs.
But I also like the radish kimchi and just about every other variety I've ever tried.
OP: I eat it because I like it not 'for my health' nor because I'm over the moon about it, but your poll requires me to either barely stand it or worship it. I'm not happy with any of the options so I'm not voting. |

Yes you can. It's delicious. It's the white kimchi you are served occasionally, especially when eating nakjibokkeum or other dishes like that.
OP, what about the option for absolutely love some varieties, but refuse to touch others, such as the acrid second hand mess served at kimbabcheonguk type of places? |

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of varieties of kimchi. Some I like, some I can't stand. |
Same here.
I will add that homemade kimchi is completely different than the stuff you get in the restaurants or at the supermarket. It tends to be better.
I eat it with Korean meals and not with non-Korean food...pretty simple. |

It may be simple for you, Homer, but I just don't get it.
I realize that I'm probably not alone in struggling with the conundrum you have presented, as most of us posters here unfortunately have limited mental faculties. Is it possible for you to further explain your highly-developed kimchi theory for us regular folks?
Thanks a bundle,

You missed the "I hate it" option.
Hate the taste. Hate the smell. I sometimes hate my wife for keeping some around the house. |

Good kimchi... like REALLY REALLY good Kimchi (that my friend's mother makes), I could eat that stuff like potato chips. It's SO good.
Bad kimchi? I wouldn't put that crap in my house. |

Sure thing caniff...just for you here goes:
*note that I color-coded it to make sure you get it, to be extra sure here is the color-key so you do not get lost:
Red: Means with Kimchi.
Blue: Means without Kimchi
When eating Korean food I eat kimchi as a side dish.
When eating other types of food (Japanese, Italian, French, German, Turkish, Chinese...) I do not eat Kimchi as it does not go well with these foods.
I hope this helps you with further sarcastic and flame-type posts caniff. No need to thank me. Note that it was no theory but you chose to call it as such. It was an opinion and a preference. I would provide the definition of these two words but I think that with the color-coded explanation above you are now ready to look these two words up.
But, perhaps it was my initial sentence that left you confused as I will admit it was not all that clear.
Cheers |
