| okay, I'm a newbie on this, but a little confused. A plan phone is on a contract right? Is it easy to just buy a pre-paid SIM card if you're not wanting to go on a contract? Can this just be bought at a normal shop like we do in most places? |
They don't use sim cards. You buy a phone, get a number assigned and pay as you go instead of getting a contract phone.
Quick, easy and painless. Phones can be as cheap as 30k won or as expensive as you want to spend. |
I know a lot of people with card phones. Their problem is they ALWAYS run out of money when they need to use their phone the most and the shops to refill are always closed or not around.
I can't count the number of times I've heard people say "I couldn't call/text you back because I didn't have any money left on my phone." |

That is nothing more than poor planning and being cheap (or a poor excuse for not calling/texting).
If you know you will be using it, put 30k or 50k won on it instead of 10k. Then you have 1.5 - 2.5 hours of talk time instead of the usual 30 minutes and no worries (really, who spends more than 2.5 hours on a cell over the weekend).
