|
|
I tried sending a package home but it was way too expensive. I inquired about surface mail and the worker showed me the price and I agreed. Then he said that surface mail to the US isn't possible. Is this true? If so, why didn't he say so in the first place? Why did he show me the price first???
I live near the postal office..and they know I'm American since I've sent lots of mail to the US before. |

It is possible. They have customized cardboard boxes for whatever you want to send. Takes a little longer though. You might need to speak to somebody else in the Post Office. |

Why wouldn't it be possible? |

I think you just got a lazy postal worker. I sent a package to Canada two weeks ago by surface mail... unless there's some kind of crazy bombing raid happening on the US right now which I haven't heard about, I don't see why the rules would be different. |

I've seen dozens of threads about surface mail here in the last two years and the consensus was that the Korean post office no longer offers surface mail. Maybe that's changed. Good luck! |

Maybe the post office is run by a former bank exec?

For several years I have been sending items by surface to the U.S. and the last time I went (I think in December) they told me it was unavailable.
Thankfully I lucked out and had a very helpful postal worker that informed me that it could not go DIRECTLY to the U.S, but they could ship it to the U.S. via South America first. This just takes a little longer but its still available, just ask them.
Good Luck |

From what I know (from my folks being on vacation in the states a lot) Surface mail there is now not available out of the states. One would presume that it's not available in as well then
It's still available in Korea to other countries though.

I just sent a package to the US by surface mail, today. I had no problems and it was a lot cheaper than by air mail. Sent a package earlier last year. It only took for months to get there. Try a different post office. |

Which post office? Were there size restrictions on the dimensions? This would be good information to know...thanks |

From what I understand, the US has stopped offering surface mail to Korea. It wouldn't surprise me if this ran both ways. |

My mate sent a package by surface mail to the US last week. I was there with and saw the address on the package, so there is no doubt that is definitely possible. It took about 10 minutes. |
